Any chance that I can be a single-hopper and switch over to The Uninvited? Anything to get away from the hashtag madness. =D

Re: First Single? What Do You Think?
I picked Addicted to Pain. Just judging off what most bands do for the placement on the tracklist of their first single.

Everyone obviously swayed by my impressive argumentsRuRo wrote:Nothing to go on but got to guess Bleed It Dry. It's been mentioned a lot along with Cry Of Achilles and Fortress, early album placement, supposed to be heavy and I think they will want a heavier track for the single.
Re: First Single? What Do You Think?
I already voted, but fuck it, I'm changing my answer. I've been a rebel, so I'm going with something that hasn't been voted for yet. Waters Rising will be the first single.

Re: First Single? What Do You Think?
No way would they release the first single as the song with Mark singing lead. In fact I don't think that'd even be a single at all.

Re: First Single? What Do You Think?
While it may not be the best idea, it'd definitely be interesting because it would get people talking. For those listening and who don't know that Mark sings it, they might begin to go deep into whether Myles Kennedy is still the lead singer and whether he was replaced or not. It'd be an interesting move, so I'm curious as to how that would turn out.
Re: First Single? What Do You Think?
Definitely would. I think it might throw people off, though. And after such a long break, they need the recognition of Myles' voice.
I do like the idea of bands trading off lead vocals between a couple different members.

Re: First Single? What Do You Think?
I like that idea too, and it gives Mark a change to showcase his voice. The main thing I'm wondering about though is how that arrangement would work live.
Re: First Single? What Do You Think?
If anything I see it being a huge help for Myles since he gets to rest his voice for a song. Or at least partially rest, if he sings backing harmonies.AB4Lyfe wrote:I like that idea too, and it gives Mark a change to showcase his voice. As far as the arrangement goes, I remember reading that they wrote Fortress with concerts in mind, such that they didn't record anything they couldn't play live. I would imagine Mark's guitar duties would not preclude him from singing "Waters Rising" live.
Re: First Single? What Do You Think?
But here's my question about it: Would Mark and Myles possibly switch spots on the stage and have Mark sing in the middle as opposed to his usual spot?
Re: First Single? What Do You Think?
My instinct tells me no, but who knows. Maybe his wall of amps would interfere with the mic too much to pull of a lead vocal, so he'd need to switch to the middle of the stage. In that case, I could see Myles just hanging back by the drums like he does during some of the extended Slash solos, or perhaps wandering over to Mark's side of the stage.
Re: First Single? What Do You Think?
I haven't heard the songs so obviously cannot predict what the first single will be.
But i'm guessing it will be one of the radio-friendly ones.
After all that is the whole point of releasing a single right ? To gain airplay on radio stations, not just metal radio.

Re: First Single? What Do You Think?
There's an interesting snippet of that Myles Kerrang interview where he talks about Waters Rising - saying Mark sings the verse and chorus, so presumably Myles sings the bridge? Can't wait for that. Probably not single material though.abw1987 wrote:If anything I see it being a huge help for Myles since he gets to rest his voice for a song. For all of the hope that it brings...
Re: First Single? What Do You Think?
Its gonna be 'Addicted to Pain' I reckon. Myles sounded very happy with they way that song turned out. Sounds heavy from the name as well
