TABN Greatest Hits - ODR

Post by zazthespaz »

Choose the four songs you think ought to be on a hypothetical "Greatest Hits" album by Alter Bridge. 4 songs per album, you can change your vote if needed, will start the next album after a minimum of 30 votes have been reached.

This is the wrong way to do it. People should just be picking their 12 favourite songs from across the 3 albums rather than needing to pick 4 from each. I prefer Josiah's method :shifty

True, but I'm not asking for favorites, I'm asking for greatest hits!

Yeah... this was why a poll version of the same idea that's in the other thread is pointless. There's no way to limit the amount you can vote to only 12 while still allowing the freedom to choose any combination of 12 from the albums. If you have unlimited voting there's no guarantee everyone only voted for just 12 across the 3 threads.

This will just give another slightly different result of what happens if we take the ones with the most votes where people are allowed to pick 4 songs per album... mildly interesting yes, but it's still just arbitrary and not an improvement over the last attempt at a "DEFINITIVE GREATEST HITS LIST" in any way.

Edit: I didn't see that this thread didn't explicitly say that it was trying to do what the other thread does only better, although that was certainly what the discussion on the other thread implied. So this one is different... we can come up with an arbitrary number of different polls and threads of generating greatest hit / best lists though.

It breaks my heart not being able to vote for The End Is Here and In Loving Memory.. But if this is a 'greatest hits'-poll I'm going for:

Find The Real
Open Your Eyes
Broken Wings
Metalingus

I love the fact that zaz got the name of the thread right with the intention of the thread though ;)

Why would you wanna boycott Macca..? We're gonna run with both Zaz and Josiah's ideas and see what happens at the end of both

I predict Josiah's album is going to have more fan-favourite songs (like Shed my Skin and The End Is Here), where zaz's album will mainly contain the singles, or best known songs) (Open Your Eyes, Metalingus..)

So Josiah's album will probably the most interesting, but zaz's album will be a better reflection on an actual 'best of'-album. If zaz would've made a 'choose your 4 favourite songs' in stead of a 'greatest hits'-list, the comparison would've a lot more interesting.

Still digging this :D

If you really want "Greatest Hits", then this is easy: Open Your Eyes, Metalingus, Broken Wings, In Loving Memory.

However, Greatest Hits =/= "Best of" or "My Favorites". I can already say that this collection will not be our favorites. Rise Today is a shoe-in for this compilation.

Hey zaz, any sympathy for Jim yet?

i selected four.. not my favorites.. but in my view the biggest hits from the album.. the songs that get most response in concerts, etc..

greg.. i swapped your ILM for FTR.. so not as hands down as you perceive.. lol.. (and again, not talking about favorites)

It's going to be a nice little race between FTR and ILM..

All right, I put Open Your Eyes, Metalingus, In Loving Memory, and Down to My Last.

On a side note, speaking of Down to My Last, a radio show, I occasionally listen to, when they cut to commercial, they would, sometimes, play the opening intro to Down to My Last. I thought that was pretty awesome.
