Re: Official "The Last Hero" Thread
I have already listened to this snippet a lotta number of times. I couldn't get around to listening to the officially"released" new songs more than once or twice. I don't dig the song cuz we know that it is from 2004, I like it already so much cuz it sounds INCREDIBLE, now that I guess is subjective. I mean when did you last hear a clean guitar with a mild tremolo use in an AB song? Its about the details in simplicity for me personally, than quantity in complexity. Evolution is meaningless if forced. Like someone else pointed out, Lover is a beautiful song, regardless of what "era" of AB it sounds like from. And no, it doesn't mean that AB don't have to keep putting out the overly produced complex tracks that they are getting critically acclaimed for. I still think songs like find the real, white knuckles, watch your words sound heavier than anything on the last two albums. Don't mean to start another x vs y argument, just my opinion.
Over thinking, over analyzing, separates my body from my mind..

Re: Official "The Last Hero" Thread
10/10 does seem a tad overly generous given what a perfect score means.
Re: Official "The Last Hero" Thread
10's for me go to Burn it Down, Blackbird, Achilles, Words, Calm the Fire, MAYBE Fortress, one song on TLH I won't name yet.
But can confirm it is not Crows.

I'm curious. How do you rate the albums top to bottom for your favorites? Lol i'm too lazy to search for that in other forum threads? Do you go ODR, Blackbird, Fortress, then ABIII?

Re: Official "The Last Hero" Thread
Think you could tie ODR and Blackbird for me just because I have a lot of personal attachment to ODR. Burn it Down is a masterpiece, and I think the lyrics/vocals of ODR (whole album)are superb.
I like Blackbird because of the added guitar, but I honestly don't think it's too far removed from ODR besides that. Not as much as people sometimes suggest. Blackbird was an album that took a LONG time to write and record, and I think it shows based on how strong the music is front to back.
ABIII is the opposite.
If I had to rank, I'd probably go
ODR/Blackbird (flip flops every day

Fortress

TLH

ABIII. I really only listen to Words and sometimes STTV. Not really any songs I like at all besides those. Isolation, to me, is the worst single they have.

AB on Monday Night Football again.. My Champion with no vocals
Re: Official "The Last Hero" Thread
I can confirm that they played My Champion again for MNF tonight. Just instrumentals from the first verse though. No vocals.

Listen, there are 7 of us on this team doing these reviews. We each rated the 13 songs on the album privately and without influence and then we worked out the average per song by what all 7 of us had rated. It's quite simple and as you can well see this time, the majority of us voted Crows On A Wire very highly.
They are just the opinions of the 7 of us and we do not wish to speak for anyone else. We appreciate the attention and appreciation our reviews are getting. It is also possible that we may be releasing our personal ratings per song when the final review goes up. Just to give everyone one last hype over the songs. We appreciate very much that you trust our opinions enough to guide you through this countdown.
(P.S. Those of you who have downloaded the album illegally and have any objections or arguments against our honest opinions about these songs; please feel free to leave and never return.
Your opinion was registered void the moment you choose to steal from Alter Bridge)
