Re: Official "The Last Hero" Thread
I don't know if you guys have noticed, but albums rarely leak in advance these days.
It used to be the norm, and every album was available at least 3 or 4 weeks before the release date just a few years ago.
Things have improved a lot, and over the last year, most major albums didn't leak up until the last few days before the official release date.

No, I fixed the spelling mistake (ish). Just thought he's had the same one for a while
Re: Official "The Last Hero" Thread
Well it's basically because (in Europe at least) security for new albums is on a really high level and even if you leak something and someone finds out you won't get a job in any record company until the end of eternitychtimixeur wrote:I don't know if you guys have noticed, but albums rarely leak in advance these days.

If I didn't come here, I wouldn't know it leaked... I certainly didn't expect that to happen so early, though leaks are often inevitable.

Re: can't believe people are surprised by this
I interned at a music promotions company and they get hundreds of copies of one album to send out to radio stations, magazines, websites, etc. One getting lost in the mail or taken by a dishonest employee before the official release isn't too hard to imagine.

Re: Official "The Last Hero" Thread
The only time I've ever taken advantage of a leak is when Death Magnetic was leaked early back in 2008. But that's because I was young, impatient, and a friend gave me the copy. I'm too lazy/not Internet savy enough to look for a leak. And with a band like Alter Bridge, I respect them too much to do that.

I'm quite grateful the mods are deleting posts so it doesn't spoil the album for those of us who haven't heard it yet.
Re: Official "The Last Hero" Thread
I don't see how talking about the album spoils it for everyone else though, why would it be different than a few people giving reviews and all that after the listening party, but maybe that's just me

I don't believe in music spoiling.
It's not like a movie, where knowing what's going to happen ruins the fun.
As far as I'm concerned, I never feel spoiled by a review, because music is an art that is very hard to describe into words.

Nah zaz, I know, but why would it have anything to do with money? I agree with chtimixeur here, if it's a review, it's not like it can "spoil" anything. I get why we don't talk about leaks on an official forum, I was just replying to phat's post.

Re: or the mone-nope.
It doesn't have to do with money, it's the only reason I could think of... Maybe because we kept them in a separate thread?Lotha wrote:Nah zaz, I know, but why would it have anything to do with money? Re: Official "The Last Hero" Thread
Because it takes away some element of surprise on the first listen of the songs. "Song X starts with this cool acoustic intro and builds its way into..." Things like that. People don't just talk causally about songs around here. They're dissected like the frogs from my high school biology class.

Re: Official "The Last Hero" Thread
Well it's not like it's prog and you can't predict where a song will go. Especially when it comes to AB, we all know their little tricks and preferred song structures by now. I mean I hope it's surprising but a review won't spoil it, for me at least.
