Creed in Manila (Nov 11,2012) Review

Post by ODR »

*Will update this soon

It's the first time Creed went here in Manila and I won't miss it for the world.

They had played in one of our coliseums which has the capacity of 20k, and at least 1k fans went to the show, (If they had the chance to be here 10 years ago I know that they could easily had 5k more fans watching. Creed was able to achieve gold certification here in the Philippines for Human Clay.) The show was suppose to start 8pm our time, but there was still a local front act who only played 2 songs and we had to wait for another 30mins just to see Creed.

They played the following songs:

1) Are you ready
2) Unforgiven
3) What if
4) Thousand Faces
5) What's this life for?
6) Faceless Man
7) "Mystery/Freestyle Song"
8) One
9) My Own Prison
10) Wrong Way
11) Say I
12) One Last Breath
13) Thousand Faces

Encore
14) Higher
15) My Sacrifice

I expected that they would play most of their singles, but didn't expect that most songs would be from Human Clay and MOP. They also just played one song for Full Circle, so maybe they are not really here to promote for it?

Unfortunately, during the middle of the show Scott Stapp seems not to be ok and one of his assistants has to give him a high chair. He suddenly signaled to the guys and he was taken down the stage to be looked over by medics in the arena.

While Stapp was off stage, the rest of Creed played a very melodic, non-distorted guitar song, which lasted for 5 mins. Then Stapp returned to the stage to the delight of the fans. He then told Mark and the rest of the guys to continue the song they are playing and Stapp put some lyrics on it. If you ask me how would I describe the song, it is not what many of us would expect from a creed album, more like of an Eric Johnson style of song.

My kudos goes to Scott Stapp for this show. I've grown to like Kennedy more than Stapp over the years, but during the show Stapp was literally tireless. He smoothly carried singing the whole show aside from the minor injury he had in the middle of Faceless Man.

Overall the show was fantastic. The guitar seems to loud/overly distorted but when I watched the show again in youtube this wasn't seem the case so maybe it was just my location.

PS.

- Being the biggest fan of Creed/AB here in my country, I would be really sad to have the night finished without having a pic with them. My girlfriend suddenly had a bright idea: "Follow them in their hotel!!!" (We were able to know where they stayed as I saw a hotel sponsor in their show).
We went out of the arena as fast as we can, and went to the hotel 5km away from the arena. After 5 mins creed came without Stapp and they let me have a pic with them and have some small chats!!!!

- I asked mark what happened to stapp and he just told me: "He'll have his leg amputated"
- Mark looks very thin in personal.

Just read Stapp does have an injury on his knee, this was the first it happened while on tour. I wonder if he'll need surgery and if so, if the Brazilian tour is still on.

It'll be a bummer if Stapp has to sit on a stool the whole time.

Scott appeared to have fallen on stage during his performance and was able to do one more song before medics and his crew escorted him out. He told the fans "pray for me" before leaving the stage. When he came back to continue the show, he supported himself with the microphone stand and sat on a stool the entire time. According to the Creed technical tour crew, Scott has "popped" one of his joints that usually happens to him off tour. This is the first time he had this during a show.

:yeahthat

I've been searching YouTube, but can't find anything but the hits. I should mention that Stapp's voice sounds positively great right now.

Sorry they didn't play Thousand faces twice. I'm just doing a recall of the songs in my mind. Too busy to edit what I wrote above lol.

I have the video in my phone of the "mystery song", but too lazy to upload. Also I always have mp4 audio sync issues when uploading to youtube. Will try to upload this weekend

lmao!! From that setlist.fm link:

With Arms Wide Open
(Stapp pronounces "Open" correctly)

Hahahaha!!

Anyways, I'd like to see this instrumental song too. I don't care about sync issues either.
