Allusion vs. Illusion
On the original Blue Collar version of the album, the song was called "Allusion" (a reference or callback to something else), while the Wind-Up reissue re-titled the song "Illusion" (seeing something that's not really there). Unless I'm mistaken, this is one thing that's never really been asked or addressed in interviews. Has anybody ever heard anything about this, any reason behind the title change? To be honest, I really like the imagery associated with "Allusion" - that is, rather than wondering if his happiness doesn't really exist, wondering if his happiness is just a reference to / copy of someone else's. (Plus I think the vocals sound better without the phaser effect.)

Re: Allusion vs. Illusion
May be they used the word that fit best for the song.
This is a bit offtopic...but for some reason I remember not liking the greatest hits compilation. Didn't they censor some of the songs? Ah well, It came with a dvd of all their music vids so that cool.

Re: Allusion vs. Illusion
I never did get the GH, but I believe they used the radio edits of the songs which were shortened in some cases.

Re: Allusion vs. Illusion
For the sake of Axlar:
In no way does it mention anywhere there that an illusion is "seeing something that isn't there". That's an overly simplified definition and defines hallucination better than it defines illusion.

@Macca i'd like to refer you to points 2a and 2b
its worded differently but Jim's description can fit those descriptions.
To add, i think you would have been cooler stating dilusion over hallucination, to stay within the "-lusions"

Definition of HALLUCINATION
1
a : perception of objects with no reality usually arising from disorder of the nervous system or in response to drugs (as LSD)
b : the object so perceived
2
: an unfounded or mistaken impression or notion : delusion
====
de·lu·sion noun \di-ˈlü-zhən, dē-\
Definition of DELUSION
1
: the act of deluding : the state of being deluded
2
a : something that is falsely or delusively believed or propagated
b : a persistent false psychotic belief regarding the self or persons or objects outside the self that is maintained despite indisputable evidence to the contrary; also : the abnormal state marked by such beliefs

Re: Allusion vs. Illusion
Delusions and hallucinations aren't the same thing either though. They are all closely linked but the terms can't be used interchangeably. Anyway, I'll stop derailing the thread now.

Re: Allusion vs. Illusion
I figured I could simplify the definition of "illusion" since we all know what the fuck it means.

Re: Allusion vs. Illusion
I'm guessing they just misspelled the word on the BC version. Someone pointed it out, and they corrected it on the Wind-Up release.
Just a hunch though.
