Pray For Sunrise Demo

Post by Them Bones »

Saw this posted over at PBF.... I like this demo a lot...

Its apparently posted by Daniel Wills( Bass guitarist who was playing with Scott before Zelick came in. )
This night was one of the most special writing sessions I've ever had between band members, in a truly amazing studio owned by Scott Stapp. This band was made up of myself on Bass, John Curry on rhythm guitar and Alex Bodner on lead guitar. This project was a year and a half of making great music with Scott for what was going to be his second solo album. I'm not sure if this album will ever be finished or released.
This recording was at about 5 in the morning at the end of the session and this song just came out. We started with a drum track loop on the studio keyboard and went from there. What a great vibe. It's obviously unfinished, though it's a very special memory for me...Enjoy...Daniel Wills

Awesome. Loved this song as soon as I heard it from the live video.

I hope he gets to realise this album soon.

That was cool to hear a demo. Sounds promising. There are parts where Stapp's voice reminds me of Eddie Vedder there. That's a first for me. He's never really sounded like him to me.

Sweet, glad to get to hear a demo from those sessions. Be cool if they could finish this someday and release it Indie style instead of worrying about Wind-Up.

And I noticed that too Ryan. Description says it was recorded at 5 am, so I think that has something to do with his voice sounding so mellow.

I like the country vibe it has, Scott could easily do a country album or collaborate with someone in country and it would sound great!

It fits the song too, but that's not what I meant. It's more the tone and stuff in certain parts.

Well I wondered if being awake at that hour was affecting his tone lol.

Scott sounds real weird, haha. But I like the song. Has a big post-grunge sound to it. Would make a great Creed song.

I actually really like Scott's voice here. Sounds pretty good for 5:00 am.

Yeah, I reallylike Stapp's voice here. Reminds me of his early, young voice.

I've always thought this song had potential. Scott does sound odd in the bridge lol most likely because it was 5am but the rest of it was pretty good. I miss that voice.

I think that demo is from 2007, so five years ago. His voice sound tired to me, absolutely for the fact of recording 5 a.m after a long journey of writing.

I am wondering why the bass Player would post this without permission, if that's what happened.
