EDIT: I've been watching afew videos and his normal voice is starting to sound weird again, and yet his growl is more powerful than ever to date, and he's hitting the higher notes almost TOO high at times. I think it's time to go back to Standard..?

I think the reason Stapp is struggling is cuz of the low tunings.. Again, its a huge misconception that singing on a lower scale is always easier.. The way Stapp is hitting some of the notes makes me think the band should definitely revert to old tunings..

He does REALLY good in this one. Some notes were too high but that's a good thing in this case.

I seriously think they need to revert back to Standard, because I like what's going on here.

And then in here, Stapp actually hit one of the "Say I's" a half-step higher in vocal terms at the last chorus, which would be the original Drop D in this case.

Well they could go back to the old tunings for the older songs but they'll be kind of screwed trying to do that with the new stuff.

I was just listening to My Own Prison, and from 2:50 on, I noticed he was starting singing with his 2009 voice. Weird and kinda scary for the many remaining dates of this tour.
If that's because of his smoking, he needs to stop asap, or else he may damage his voice once again.

He's definitely declined a bit but he's no where near sounding as bad as 09.

I listened to the song "My Own Prison" from :
- Houston 2009
- Boston 2012 (april)
- Nashville 2012 (july)

And IMHO, he's kinda close to the 2009 voice, even though it's not as bad yet (don't forget the tour stops mid september !). Like many fans, I really thought his vocal issues were behind him, especially after his very strong performances from earlier this year. Let's just hope he had a bad night, and that he won't struggle for the next couple of years.
