Stapp in Europe - April 2014

Post by Dolo »

April 23 - London, UK @ Electric Ballroom

April 24 - Utrecht, Netherlands @ De Helling

April 25 Paris, France @ La Flèche d'or

April 27 Berlin, Germany @ C-Club

April 28 Cologne, Germany @ Luxor

I wouldn't have thought that he would come to Europe after such an...... average album.

I think that gives him every reason to go. Not enough sales in the US and rock is big in Europe. He needs to grow a fan base one way or another

I kinda get why he wouldn't do an extensive tour of the UK, but coming all the way over for one date is a bit silly isn't it?

Why? It's not like the UK's that far from The Netherlands, France or Germany..

Anyway, great for him.

Well, he's one of the very few artists I know of that come over to the UK just for one date. But it's understandable he (or the record company) is playing it safe, obviously it's less risky to play a small amount of dates in the bigger markets. It's good to see Scott do a European tour, Creed haven't done one in years.

also the venues aren't very big either. He has nothing to lose and he's not doing this tour for the money. More for just the fan base

Honestly surprised he's going overseas. But like what has been previously stated, the market for rock is better in Europe. Anyways, hope he meets success there. Interested to see some vids from the concerts.

Its good that he is heading overseas. Should have a strong band backing him up, those fans would love to hear Creed songs live, if not by the original band, atleast Scott could get musicians who can really do justice to the songs and the vibe.

Well that's good news.

I hope his voice will be in good shape and he will come up with some good old Creed tunes.

Venues aren't that big. But C-Club in Berlin for example isn't that small either. This year Sepultura, Black Stone Cherry and John Mayall will all play there.

Shipping your gear and instruments is quite expensive, and I don't know how he's gonna make any money with only 5 dates. It's good news for the fans, but it's weird he's playing so few tiny places.

I assume they will do the rent-a-gear overseas.

Going to a gig in Germany.

I guess he will do some Creed stuff as well, cause Creed's still fairly famous in Germany and some other European countries.

I've heard he'll be announcing new dates in Europe later. Also, his agent must be trying to make a bigger tour in other places. I heard somewhere that South America is included too.

Creed had a pretty fair amount of hit singles in Sweden but the establishment hated them, still a bit strange that they dont come to Scandinavia. Creed was way bigger in Sweden than in the UK and France.

Tremonti recently said Creed wasn't really big enough in europe so that's why Creed mostly stayed in the US. i think

Then Mark has to get his facts straight. Human Clay and Weathered were very successful in several European countries (certified Gold in Germany and multiply certified in Scandinavia). Even Full Circle peaked at #9 in Germany, #7 in Switzerland and #12 in Austria. When you go to a rock venue in Germany, there's a high probability you'd hear at least one Creed song during the evening - that's my experience.

So there's no way they couldn't have built up a solid live-fanbase over here. No way!
I'm pretty sure they could even have headlined Rock Am Ring back in the day (2000-2004).

So I guess the reason was not that their music wasn't popular enough in Europe. The opposite is true: They missed to tour in Europe when they could have toured here extensively and now they fear a lack of demand after all these years.

If I remember correctly one reason they missed to tour in Europe was that Stapp was afraid of flying. But I'm not sure if that is true.

Yeah, in France they really weren't that popular. But when it come to the UK: I've only been there for one time by now and what did they play in a shopping mall in Birmingham: With Arms Wide Open.

Heck, they even played Wrong Way (!) in a freaking furniture store in Germany. That was pretty awesome :headbang
