Eminem, J cole are the two best imo. Then there's the classics like 2pac. But the rest now are awful. Rap is not about words making an impact anymore. Its about who can make the best new dance. The words don't mean anything. For proof, whenever that song "red nose" comes on I literally go around buzzkill style and ask everyone what a red nose is. NEVER have I gotten an answer other than IDK. But there they are shakin their ass to it. What if it meant swastikas or machettes or some shit?

But I'll save the rest of the argument for a different thread

No, he couldn't. Stapp isn't having trouble with this album because people don't like the lyrics. Stapp's having trouble with this album because the majority of people don't like the music.

May I suggest that Stapp's having trouble with this album because the majority of people simply haven't heard the music? I mean, a lot of people would probably still be surprised if they were told that it even exists really, you know? - He was never going to get the attention that is given to so many artists these days. That being said, it's not a good album to say the least - so there's no guarantee that extra attention would have made for extra success. But then there's never a shortage of poor music becoming popular (Miley Cyrus, One Direction and so on) but they all have something in common - silly teenagers. In order to be successful in this day and age you either have to make something good (and have a little bit of luck)... or you have to make something extraordinarily catchy that blinds the dumb masses to the poor quality of the music. I think Scott's album falls very much in the middle of those two extremes, distinctly average.
