To Whom It May Concern

Post by StillRemains »

These last few nights, I've been obsessively listening to the B-Side "To Whom It May Concern". Like many others, I first heard the song on the soundtrack for The Scorpion King. That's fine and dandy. It's a song that the band has had around since their MOP days. I remember seeing footage on youtube sometime ago - back from a show in '97 where they played a version of this song. So the more I listened to the song, the more I'd begin to wonder...

"How did this amazing track never end up on one of the albums?"

I know it was released on a few random versions of Human Clay on a bonus disc, but I truly think that this song would've been perfect for the regular release of Human Clay. It easily would've been my second favorite track on the album (behind Faceless Man). It would've fit so nicely in with the final two tracks.

Has the band ever shed any light as to why this track never made an album, and has always remained a B-Side?

Edit: This is the video I was talking about

One of the best songs they wrote IMO

"And I hope those eyes don't steal my freedom, my freedom"

Damn they were good back in the day

Exactly my point. It strangely amazes me how it never made the cut onto an album. That chorus is absolutely to die for. It's so simple, but it's so powerful.

It's probably one of my favourite tunes too. It's also the first Creed song I ever heard, so that might have something to do with it ;)

I didn't find out about their other songs for like 2-3 years.. When I found out about them, AB was already together and I kinda skipped Creed because I thought AB was a lot better :lol

Definitely. When I listen to this song again, I remember how awesome they were at their peak. This is one of their best songs for sure

Is This The End was another track I thought was album worthy. Young Grow Old was pretty good too.

But this song is probably my favorite Creed b-side. Scott sings the chorus with so much passion.

It's always been one of my favorites of theirs.

Bound and Tied along with it.
Photobucket cash grab.

I actually didn't enjoy Bound & Tied "THAT" much. I liked it, but as a bonus on the My Own Prison disc, it really didn't fit - so that partly ruined the song for me.

But I'd still love to know if there's a reason behind To Whom It May Concern not making an album cut. God, that song is good! Hehe.

I was just listening to this song and "This is the end" the other day...
This was after a new attempt at enjoying "All I was", and boy, what a difference. It's hard to believe it's the same guy who wrote in those 2 bands. Those 2 B-sides are so moody, and the clean guitar tone still does wonders to my ears.
Creed was really a phenomenal band in 1999, it's a shame we'll never hear such greatness from them ever again.

IMO, Creed was the absolute greatest rock band of their time. Such raw energy and power. Didn't need vocal effects, crazy solos, stupid drum fills, to me they were the definition of what every rock band should be.

Okay, so I'm bumping this thread...

'Is This The End' had a great bridge. That part where he sings "no more sorrow, all those crying days are gone" always seems to get to me. Kind of chokes me up a little bit.

Plus Tremonti's backing vocals were a nice addition.
