Creed - 1997 at the Deep Ellum, Dallas, Tx.

Post by Them Bones »

Never knew this existed. Fuckin Epic. Creed as a band need to sit together and listen to these bootlegs. Specially Stapp, he needs to work on getting that voice back, what power, insane. Everything about it Brian'sBass, Tremonti's monstrous tone.. fuck, he sounds so plastic on everything he does now. And Flip's snare sound, that sound suited creed's music, I dont know why they had to change the core sound so much that it is unrecognisable.. Its a shame what they've done with Creed over the last few years.

Spoiler: Say I has a crazy familiar sounding riff towards the end of the song. Sounds like Tremonti might have used it in his latest project.

It's crazy to hear the riff of You Waste Your Time in 1997 !
It's very much slowed down, but I can definitely hear a ressemblance.

Overall, you're right.
I read an interview of Rick Rubin recently, and he said that when he started working with Black Sabbath, he had them sitting in a room. And they had to listen to their first album in its entirety, in order to remember what their band was all about in the first place.
That is something Creed should do if they ever want to record an album again (very doubftul at the moment).
Enough with the evolution : just go back to your roots and make good music.
No oversinging.
No cheesiness.
No million dollar guitar rigs.
No loudness war.
Just good ol' post grunge with scorching riffs, insane groove and raw vocals.

Really cool video. I've never seen it before. But I'm wondering how many songs from Human Clay were already written in 1997?
And yeah, it's funny how that riff in Say I is sounding so similar to that one in You Waste Your Time... Mark must have a really good memory... :D

I definitely like this version of "Say I" more than the version that made it onto the record, it's a lot heavier before the final chorus. But, if this had happened, we never would've gotten "You Waste Your Time."

this link worked.. interesting. i may point out thought that if i try to backtrack or skip ahead it sends me back to that same video in my picture above.. weird as hell. I wonder if somehow youtube servers put two videos in the same location in cyber space or overlapping somehow
