first track is good, although the vibrato works much better in his lower register imo

and sonically it's lacking in dynamics (which is a bummer considering the source material is so dynamic)

although that's hardly surprising because it is 2022 after all haha

Found a bit of info on some of the other folks involved.

Jim Massoth - producer, engineer, jazz musician in his own right (this name explains the "Jim M Session" on the door in the teaser video :lol)

https://www.thechicagoexperience.com/co ... erry-viano

Brad Blackwood - engineer, did the mastering for Wolfgang Van Halen's recent album.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brad_Blackwood

Mike Smith - producer, jazz saxophonist, toured with Frank Sinatra himself.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Smit ... xophonist)

Carey Deadman - producer, trumpet player, another who toured with Frank Sinatra by the looks of it.

Dang, nice digging Dan! If that’s true, that’s pretty cool he’s doing this with original Sinatra band members!

Song is out on Spotify now. He sounds all right on this one. Not really the kind of music for me, but I'm glad he's taking a chance in doing something really different than what he's accustomed to and doing it for a good cause.

Now back to listening to stuff from Marching in Time. LA show is tomorrow.

Called it! :peace

I consider myself a casual Sinatra fan, and the first half of the song really impressed me.
You can tell Mark studied Sinatra's inflections very meticulously, and his voice is surprisingly groovy.
Great job! :bow
I'm now very impatient to hear the full album.

Psht, not even one 7+ minutes epic...

Kidding aside, I really enjoy Mark's lower register, and I think he sounds great here. Both musically and personally, this makes me think more of him, and I will make sure to support this cause.

Very cool! And done for an amazing cause!

This is so surreal. From hearing Higher for the first time in a car commercial 20 years ago, to a decade ago sitting in study hall hearing You Waste Your Time when it dropped... To THIS another whole decade later!
I'm officially convinced everything Mark Tremonti touches turns to gold.
Very excited to hear the deeper Sinatra cuts on this one!

Wow.

I don't even know what to say. I can't remember the last time I posted on this board but I'm legit speechless.

Seeing Mark with his daughter in that video and why he's doing this just tugs on all sorts of heartstrings.

I was always a huge Tremonti fanboy before. I don't know what is past fanboy, but I'm there. Dude is solid. I'll never forget when my dog passed away a few years ago and he took the time to pass along a few words of encouragement. Guy is such a class act all around, he continues to impress me with not only his creativity, but his passion for doing good in this world.

Wonderful project, wonderful cause and such a great way for Mark to challenge himself. He sounds more authentic at this stuff than Michael Buble and his ilk. Mark still lacks a bit of the grit that Sinatra had but I flippin' love crooners and jazz standards and all that, so it's awesome to hear the other side of my musical interests collide so well. Couldn't be more jazzed for Mark! The best dad in rock! :rockon Every time I see one of these guys do something pure and non-ego driven it restores my faith in musicians.

However, whoever left the edit at 3:08 in needs a kick up the bum! That's a stinker.
