Ellefson (Megadeth Bassist) - Hammer Comes Down (featuring Mark Tremonti)

Post by anguyen92 »

So, I think there were some murmurs that Mark laid down some guitar work for David Ellefson, of Megadeth, solo stuff and this lyric video got released.

2:32 is Mark's solo. It said so on the bottom of the screen in the video.

I will be very honest. If Mark wasn't in this song in any capacity, I wouldn't have listen to this at all. In fact, I can say I hate this song and reminds me why I am not primarily a metal fan in the first place. The video, the vocals, the lyrics. It's just blarghhhh to me. Enjoy the song if you like it.

It's pretty basic 80s metal. Nothing wrong with it, but yeah...

Oof, this is pretty cringe-worthy. Mark just kind of went ham on that solo, haha.

That kind of generic screaming vocal performance is something I could never get behind. When it comes to straight screaming vocals, Slayer's Tom Araya is unique and just about the only performer I can really enjoy. Phil Anselmo was pretty good with Pantera as well, even on later albums when he stopped singing at all. I'm not aware of any others that don't all pretty much sound the same. Maybe Lamb of God? I don't listen to them though.

It was classic metal which was really enjoyable because it is just in your face raw! I loved Mark’s signature. I think as a fan for me the beauty of it was knowing ... that the collaboration happened.. and it is surreal! Makes it awesome!

No you’re right, the song quality is mostly beside the point!
