The Little Things in "Dust"
A companion thread to "The Little Things In Cauterize" made by Duane, this is for all the little things in Dust. The little things you appreciate in the songs individually or in the album as a whole.
To list a few:
Wolfie's bass in Tore My Heart Out in the verses from 0:31-0:34 for example
Wolfie's bass in Catching Fire in the verses from 1:28-1:37
Wolfie's bass in Once Dead from 1:53-1:55 before Erocks solo
The note at 0:11 in Rising Storm before the vocals kick in
The bluesy lead lick in the outro of Betray Me from 3:54-3:57
The Bass note in The Cage at 0:03
The cymbal hit in The Cage at 0:55 before the chorus kicks in

Re: The Little Things in "Dust"
I love the outro of Betray Me where it sounds like the riff (and therefore the song) is over, but then it's like, "NO JUST KIDDING" and comes in with that even heavier riff to end off the song. Bad. Ass.
Re: The Little Things in "Dust"
I'll think of more as I listen more but GW's drumming on Once Dead. Hell, the entire album. He's a freaking machine!
Re: The Little Things in "Dust"
GWs drumming outro on Tore My Heart Out! Takes me back my early Metallica days of and justice for all...namely dyers eve! Awesome!

End of the second chorus of Once Dead, some higher register guitar parts.
Catching Fire intro, you hear some very haunting natural harmonics with tremolo work, mainly audible during the "you just let it go" part before the chorus kicks in.

End of Betray Me is one of my all-time favorite outros

Do my solo-senses tingle in the mid section of Once Dead? Sounds like an Erock solo to me.

Definitely an Erock Solo. The little part at 2:07-2:09 in the solo gave it away from me. I've heard Erock do that live before i'm 99% positive. Plus that little bit kind of reminded me of Myles' solo styling (maybe that's where I've heard it before? and Erock is like the Myles of Tremonti so...)Crumbso wrote:Do my solo-senses tingle in the mid section of Once Dead? Re: The Little Things in "Dust"
Yeah I feel like Erock is what Myles would sound like with less restraint... and if you take away the jazz influence.
Anyone spotting any other Erock solos on this? (the lick after the first chorus of Tore My Heart Out doesn't count.

What I meant was is that he's the rhythm guitarist still and mostly does the texture stuff like how Myles does with AB, doesn't he?Crumbso wrote:Yeah I feel like Erock is what Myles wouldn't sound like with less restraint... and if you take away the jazz influence.

No, he doesn't have any other solos on Dust I believe,

I just realised that what I typed sounded super sarcastic lol.
I was agreeing with you. I should have typed would instead of wouldn't

I really like the bass all throughout Never Wrong. That's some good stuff.

I like that part when Mark sings and plays some guitar.

Re: The Little Things in "Dust"
Second prechorus of TMHO has some bends on the background which sound pretty weird but in a good way, around the 02:30 mark, sounds awesome!
Re: The Little Things in "Dust"
The little bass slides in Dust are awesome.
