Just my two cents but Tremonster > Hetfield and Hammet any day of the week.

Can't wait for Dust! Forget Cauterize :lol

I'm excited for Dust but I think the chips are better stacked in Cauterize's favor based on the song selections.

Using different tunings isn't really a skill.. Once you get used to the different scales and chord positions it's actually a lot easier than using a standard tuning, in my opinion.

No Metallica = No Tremonti, or at least not as we know him now.

I didn't say it is a skill. Every tuning makes you write and play in different way.

So put out the first in June.. let it play for a few months, let Wolf do his tour, then pop out Dust in October for a winter run. Just in time to get in the studio next year to put down AB-V for a late 2016 release.

If so, i can't wait to hear those 2 masterpieces !
If we were to bring up a Tremonti vs. Hetfield discussion, a lot people would say that Mark is a much more interesting songwriter. Hetfield is kinda boring with his powerchords and straightforward lines.
Load/Reload are pretty good, on the side note.
This is my problem with rock right now. Every band is swinging on power chords nuts. It's just so over used that its become boring and unoriginal. I hate when songs are just singing a melody over 4 power chords. Come up with a cool riff, or at least use different chord variations to give it some flavor. Its kinda even ruined Black Sabbath for me. I would rather listen to some Rhoads or Wylde era Ozzy.

Yeah, Mark uses quite a bit of wah. Nothing like Hammett who practically uses it on everything (sometimes it works like in Bleeding me). I wasn't trying to bash Metallica (Lighting and Puppets are two of my favorite albums ever). I think someone else was just looking for a fight, and I took the bait.

Was a double album the plan going into recording? Did Cauterize get the best songs and Dust is the not so best songs? Did they do two totally different albums to "stock up" considering other band obligations but to keep us fans happy with new music?

Lots of questions and mystery.

If I remember correctly the always was to do extra songs so they could would release down the line. I guess he just hit a creative stride and got more songs than expected and felt the best plan of action was 2 albums. I would bet that neither album has the "best" songs and probably have the songs that work together best.

Just from reading on here, it seems like some of the songs that are going to be on Dust are some of the board members favorites.

Yeah, I don't recall thinking the first 10 songs were better than the second 10, or vice versa. Both albums will be very strong.

abw1987 - agreed. Both albums will be great. There were some killer songs in the second half.

Exactly. I was sure people probably knew more than me, but I wasn't prepared to "assume" and trawl through the boards in a hopeful search.

Cheers though! :rockon

Shea, not everyone uses this site every single day like you do. You don't have to come across so condescending when someone asks a legitimate question.
