Second verse is definitely my favourite part (as well as the outro). Has a little Myles-esque switch in the melody too.

Heavy with a melodic chorus (that you've probably already heard). Shenanigans afoot in the solo. Boomtastic outro, would've loved it to play a more prominent part in the song.

I hear it now, honestly I think it's just artistic expression/creativity/something different. Rather than having it sound the same the whole way through. Doesn't sound weird or like it's hiding anything to me

I agree. To me, it's no different than adding chorus out reverb effects to a guitar. Just adds a little flavor to the song.
