Mark's doing a Q&A on Twitter today. Someone asked if the new Tremonti album would be similar in style to the first.

Re: Tremonti 2 Writing/Recording Sessions

Re: Tremonti 2 Writing/Recording Sessions
Can someone ask if he used the PRS archon on Fortress.
Thanks Timo!
Re: Tremonti 2 Writing/Recording Sessions
No crazy questions, although a few of the good ones weren't answered, such as "Are there any more US tour dates planned for the southeast besides Atlanta?" and "Which AB song do you MOST want to play live that hasn't been played before?". The ones did get answered were:
"What is the most difficult song to play live from the "Fortress" album?"
-Probably the title track
"Are there any new guitars you're looking to add to your rig?"
-I have a new signerature model being made right now that I'm really excited about

Someone asked if he used the Axe Fx on it, and he replied saying he used the Cornford, Bogner, and Dual Rec.austinjhnsn wrote:Can someone ask if he used the PRS archon on Fortress.

Ahh okay. It probably wasnt done by then either. He used it in orlando from what I saw in pictures. That new signature model sounds exciting!
Thanks Timo!

Re: Tremonti 2 Writing/Recording Sessions
This is going to sound stupid but what does progressive sound like?
Re: Tremonti 2 Writing/Recording Sessions
Progressive is a very wide open musical term to define. It basically means the music is more experimental. For Alter Bridge standards, a song like Fortress would be more progressive compared to a standard rocker like Addicted to Pain. I wouldn't consider any of Mark's music completely progressive (neither would Mark), but he's been throwing in more experimental elements recently.
Check out bands like Porcupine Tree and Mastodon to get an idea of more progressive rock/metal.

Re: Tremonti 2 Writing/Recording Sessions
Hmmm, honestly, I have no clear way to explain this.
Well, it depends on what kind of progressive sound does Mark and his solo band want to go to. They probably may go to two options: progressive rock and progressive metal.
Progressive rock is like Rush or Pink Floyd.
Progressive metal is like progressive rock but more of a metaler (is that a word?) sound. Here's the wiki definition.
I guess a decent example would Metallica's ...And Justice for All album since that had progressive elements, I believe.

Again, that's what I think it is when he may state when he said that it may be a little more progressive. I have no clue. Don't believe me if this is not right.Progressive metal blended elements of heavy metal and progressive rock music, taking the loud "aggression", amplified electric guitar-driven sound of the former, with the more experimental, complex and "pseudo-classical" compositions of the latter. Progressive metal often utilises the conceptual themes associated with progressive rock.

Deja vu? Fortress was praised as a progressive album as well and it didn't turn out like that actually.SHEAKENBAKEN wrote:Progressive? I like the sound of that.Andy92 wrote:Mark's doing a Q&A on Twitter today. Someone asked if the new Tremonti album would be similar in style to the first.

Oh man, is this going to be like that time where Slash made a tweet saying that his next record is a heavy record without really specifying how heavy it is?

Progressive? Hmm... I'm excited for Tremonti II, but we'll see how progressive it'll be.
Fortress is a progressive album, well not all around progressive album, but it has moments in there which make it progressive sounding.

Lol, Fortress is not a progressive album. There are only 2 songs that could be considered as progressive, and even those songs aren't really progressive.

I'm sure Slash once called AB... "pseudo progressive." - I think that label kinda fits nicely.

Re: Tremonti 2 Writing/Recording Sessions
That's actually a pretty good description.
Lol, the term 'progressive' somehow always creates chaos.

Re: Tremonti 2 Writing/Recording Sessions
I think progressive may be the wrong term here? I know it's the term Mark himself used, but I really can't imagine his solo project to be 'a little more progressive', I think he'll definitely shift some of the song structures, but I just don't see Mark doing anything else close to progressive outside of AB. All I Was isn't progressive in the slightest.
