Cracking tune. Great melody, great structure, good solo which could have been a bit longer though.

A lot of "wow" moments in this song for me. It is my favorite of the four released singles by a long shot.

It’s a great song. Actually reminds me a bit of a Weathered era Creed track. Some of the guitar parts reminded me of Hide.
It’s my favorite of the singles so far.

It took my usual three listens before it clicked. I really like the solo and back half of the song. I even started singing the chorus after listening which is a good thing.

Easily the best song I've heard from this album so far

Really, really great song. That main guitar lick in particular has such a great melody, and is quite different from most of what we hear from Mark. Great song, top to bottom though, I love it.
Re: Tremonti - Episode VI: The End Will Show Us How
The intro guitar riff is so confusing I thought we were gonna get a cool, proggy track but it quickly turns into a regular, Tremonti mid-tempo track.

For a little while I couldn't quite figure out why the new music video looked a bit odd to me (not in a bad way). Then I realised, this might be the first video in god knows how long where Mark is wearing more than just a black t-shirt on his upper half (not including the Sinatra stuff).

I noticed that and I think I know why. They got the wind going throughout the video and only Eric's hair is flying around. I think they had them wear stuff that made it help appear that they were in the "storm"Dan Dando wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2024 7:41 am For a little while I couldn't quite figure out why the new music video looked a bit odd to me (not in a bad way). I'm curious to hear the opinions of people who are usually critical of the mix. Don't get me wrong, I can hear some of the past criticisms like buried cymbals and guitar or bass parts that are hard to hear, but that stuff has never really bothered me all too much. They songs always sound huge to me overall. What do you guys think of this song though, because I really think it sounds fantastic. I can hear every instrument and vocal clearly. My only thing I've noticed is that some of the guitar solos are more blended and less put out in front then normal. Overall I agree with Mark that this might be his best sounding album so far.

Since you're asking...
Elvis had slightly improved on Year of the Tiger and Pawns & Kings. I could deal with that kind of production/mix, even though it was still flawed.
But he's back to his old self on the new Myles and Mark albums, and I find it absolutely unlistenable.
The guy just can't properly record drums and mix heavy guitars.
As long as he stays away from anything Creed-related, I frankly don't care anymore. It is what it is, and nothing's about to change.
As for the music itself, whatever happened to the thrash metal with pop choruses combo?

Well damn. I guess my production ear sucks, because I think this song sounds fantastic. At any point in the song I can focus in on any instrument and hear it clearly. The guitar tones are fantastic. I can hear all the drum parts clearly. Everything is leveled nicely. Vocals sound great. I thought you guys really might like the production on this one.chtimixeur wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2024 1:00 pm Since you're asking...

Re: Tremonti - Episode VI: The End Will Show Us How
I don't have any problem with the production or mix on these songs so far. My biggest complaint was with The Last Hero album. Back to Tremonti...The End Will Show Us How continues to grow on me. There is that eery haunting sound/guitar effect that I feel is much better used in this song vs. TMEaI. I have noticed that Mark sings differently now...especially when listening to Unable To See right after.
My response to the "where is the thrash metal?" is I think Mark has drifted away into more moody stuff. I love the speed/thrash side of things with Tremonti and am hopeful that we may have at least one-two songs on this album in that style.

I'm not sure it ever properly worked, but at least, it made Tremonti differ from AB.
Now, if I ever heard instrumental versions of current Mark proejcts, I'd have a hard time knowing if it's AB or Tremonti.
On a side note, nice avatar, Schulzy. Return to Dust made a great impression on me this year. Black Road is an amazing song for Alice in Chains fans. I'm really excited about the future of that band.

I think on these latest Tremonti songs the production is tolerable. There are a bunch of choices that do not favor the songs, and there are obvious flaws that will always be there with Elvis, but it's not as bad as Myles' latest record, which I find unlistenable.

Thanks! I kicked myself for not seeing them live this year when they came through Iowa with Chevelle. I think if RtD can continue to work on their live show they will really gain some traction.chtimixeur wrote: ↑Sun Dec 08, 2024 4:31 am On a side note, nice avatar, Schulzy. Speaking of Alice in Chains, that new Jerry Cantrell kicks ass and sounds terrific.
Joe Barresi is the man, and I hope he works with Alter Bridge or Creed someday. Now, THAT is a producer who knows what he's doing.
