Re: Myles Kennedy - "Year of the Tiger"
All right, so it is confirmed that Elvis is the producer of this one.
The good news, however, is that it seems like they were going to make sure that this is not as heavily produced and layered that AB, to an extent sadly, tends to get in the last few albums (and that definitely was the biggest flaw to The Last Hero album).
Edit: Continuing on with this interview, holy cow, he's stated that he incorporated banjos, mandolins, and lap-steel guitars in this one.

nope nope nope. I don't doubt anything they've said but until I hear music then I don't think so.

Re: Myles Kennedy - "Year of the Tiger"
Definitely a lot of new info in that interview. To sum the important parts up (some of it has been mentioned before already):
-One track from his first album was rerecorded on this album.
-Elvis was the producer
-It was recorded on tape, as stripped down as possible
-It's the closest thing to a concept album he has ever written, about him and his family dealing with his father's death in 1974
-It's been mixed and mastered already
-The artwork it ready
-Lots of different instrumentations like resonator guitars, banjos, mandolins, and lap-steels
-12 tracks
-He reunited with Mayfield Four drummer Zia Uddin on this album (!)
My prediction is that he's gonna release a single in early/mid january. The album three or four months later. In between he might work with Slash on a new Conspirators album.

yeah can't wait for the record to come out april 1st
Re: Myles Kennedy - "Year of the Tiger"
Trained wisdom there. But hey a 12 month range for a finished album maybe be reasonable.AllC392Was wrote:nope nope nope. I don't doubt anything they've said but until I hear music then I don't think so.
Alterations: Dec 2010, May 2011, August 2011x2, Sept 2011, Oct 2014x2

He'd better not.Timotheus wrote:My prediction is that he's gonna release a single in early/mid january. The album three or four months later. In between he might work with Slash on a new Conspirators album.
If he does, will he still have time to tour his own album?
He'll get sucked in all that Slash-stuff and we'll never see him live.

Re: Myles Kennedy - "Year of the Tiger"
Slash is gonna tour with GNR this summer, so Myles will still have time to tour it. I hope it won't happen though, the new Conspirators album. At least not in 2018.

Re: Myles Kennedy - "Year of the Tiger"
I honestly wouldn’t be upset if we didn’t get another Conspirators album for a while...bring on the Tremonti Project, Myles’ solo album, and then more AB.

A light on the horizon...please don't be a mirage.
No way am I missing this tour.

Re: Myles Kennedy - "Year of the Tiger"
Napalm just announced that Myles will be using them for his solo release.
Re: Myles Kennedy - "Year of the Tiger"
Interesting, I'd assumed he'd be on Fret12 but I suppose they're more geared towards Mark and he'll be releasing something as well. Wonder if this includes the US as well.AB4Lyfe wrote:Napalm just announced that Myles will be using them for his solo release.
Spring release according to the tweet, fingers crossed for March!

Re: Myles Kennedy - "Year of the Tiger"
Yep, this is getting serious now since Napalm had announced that they will be the label that will release it and Napalm has been good to AB thus far. The Last Hero came out in a timely manner and, from their end, the Live at the O2 Arena CD was delivered to my house at the release date.
I think Myles' solo album is in good hands with these guys.

Re: Myles Kennedy - "Year of the Tiger"
Man... I'm conflicted. I've been waiting for a Myles solo album for so long, expecting to hear just your straight up, Myles + Acoustic Guitar amazingness. Not that I doubt his prowess, but if he's got a drummer, and a band behind him, and Elvis is involved and Napalm is involved (as much as I love them both)... it feels like it's going to be some kind of AB Lite and not just a nice clean simple "Myles putting some songs out there" thing. I have faith that he knows what he's doing and this will be as great as it can be, but man... I was really looking forward to something like Chris Cornell's Songbook album, where it's nothing but voice and one acoustic guitar. Here's hoping for the best.
Re: Myles Kennedy - "Year of the Tiger"
I think there are plenty of reasons to think it won't be AB lite - it's got banjos and mandolins and a blues vibe, it's recorded straight to tape, he's said he was consciously preventing it being overproduced. It sounds like the old one might've got away from him on that front, but this one seems like it'll be pretty stripped back.
For all of the hope that it brings...

Re: Myles Kennedy - "Year of the Tiger"
Napalm is just a way to distribute the album. Myles is probably happy with the partnership between them and AB.
The fact that he mentioned the absence of high gain guitars in that interview indicates that it will sound different from what we've heard him do over the last decade. Based on interviews over the last decade this (and the previous) album was never going to be a "songbook" type of album, though most songs will probably easy to reduce to an acoustic setting.

If he records one of his shows on tour for an acoustic live album and includes some old MF4 stuff in the set I shall be delirious.

For sure. I really hope the solo tour is in some nice small theater settings.
