Can't wait to hear it, and glad they got approval from Sir Elton.Slash’s “Rocket Man” is cleared for takeoff. The Guns N' Roses guitar hero has been given the green light to record a cover of Elton John's ‘70s classic for a daredevil’s dangerous Kickstarter campaign.
Slash’s turbo-boosted recording will serve as the theme for Eddie Braun’s attempt at leaping across Idaho’s Snake River Canyon, a stunt which almost took the life of famed thrill-seeker Evel Knievel.
Braun plans to jump the canyon on Sept. 17 with the help of a 10,000 horse-power rocket, the so-called "Evel Spirit" which apparently goes from 0-400mph in three seconds. Knievel tried and failed in his attempt at the stunt back in September 1978.
In a novel twist, each backer of the new campaign will receive a download of “Rocket Man,” performed by Slash, Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators. “I approached the rock icon Slash, who I knew to be an Evel Knievel fan, and asked if he would be interested in being involved with my rocket project,” Braun notes on his Kickstarter page. “He gave us the most awesome gift we could ever dream: a theme song.”
Braun plans to live-stream his jump attempt. The download “Rocket Man” will be distributed after the action.
