Slash Says “You’re A Lie” Was Almost Cut from "Apocalyptic Love"

There’s no denying that Slash’s single, “You’re a Lie,” is a hit, but the irony is the song was almost cut from the track list from his second solo album, Apocalyptic Love.

“The original version of [‘You’re a Lie’] had a different chorus and we never felt one hundred percent comfortable with it and so when we were in pre-production, the song was really on the chopping block,” Slash tells ABC News Radio. “I came up with a different idea for the guitar part for the chorus and…Myles [Kennedy] came up with a whole different vocal and changed the song completely and all of the sudden it made it.”

Slash noted that he plans to make another solo album with his backing band, Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators, just as soon as singer Myles Kennedy finishes working on a new album with his other band, Alter Bridge.

“Alter Bridge is Myles’s band so I don’t want to interrupt that,” Slash explains. “I don’t want to cause any friction, so as soon as there’s a time that seems right I’ll probably be writing material all throughout next year and when the time is right we’ll go in and get another record done.”

A double-edged sword. I love Apocalyptic Love and I really look forward to another album from Slash and Myles. But of course this means no Myles solo album any time soon.

It looks like Myles may be booked all the way through at least the end of 2014. Mark has said they'll begin writing the new AB album in January 2013 and hopefully have it out in time to tour the summer festivals in Europe. They'll probably tour through the rest of the year, I would think. Then it seems that 2014 will be Slash and Myles again.

So the bad news: it looks like no solo album from Myles before 2015.

Damn, that man can't just get no rest. I hope most of 2015 will be a year off for Myles. The guy has fucking deserved it!

So I guess we can expect Myles' solo album in...


Laughed so fucking hard at this when I first saw it. Yet it's frustrating. I've been dying to hear Myles' solo album!! Really putting my hopes high for 2015 and Myles' solo album. It's been collecting dust since 2009.
