SHEAKENBAKEN wrote:So then what are all the songs on the album about?

1. World on Fire -
2. Shadow Life - about the dangers and downsides to living a secret/"shadow" life.
3. Automatic Overdrive - about a person running/jogging? a metaphor for a persons lifestyle?
4. Wicked Stone - about wanting to/thinking of committing suicide? ("I wanna get off this wicked stone")
5. 30 Years to Life - serving jail time for a crime committed.
6. Bent to Fly - About a mothers child leaving to go live their own life.
7. Stone Blind - the girls beauty has him "stone blind" to her true nature and she deceived and used him
8. Too Far Gone -
9. Beneath the Savage Sun - poaching of elephants/animals
10. Withered Delilah -
11. Battleground - a relationship gone bad/with issues.
12. Dirty Girl - Show girls/strippers at a club
13. Iris of the Storm -
14. Avalon -
15. The Dissident -
16. Safari Inn - I presume it's the music that plays over the PA at a Safari Inn
17. The Unholy - Child molestation/abuse in the catholic church
No, I think you're taking the lyrics of Wicked Stone too literally. I see it as sort of a "fuck it"/frustrated song. Have you ever heard Incubus' Pardon Me? "Pardon me while I burst into flames, I've had enough of this world and its peoples' mindless games." It doesn't mean he literally wants to set himself on fire. Same here with Myles, its not about suicide. He's just expressing a frustration with the world/society. That's how I interpret it.

I think Withered Delilah is about stupid ass celebrities and their 15 minutes of fame. Think Snooki, Kardashians, etc. "You know it's true that no one cares anymore....You had your time and now your moment is all but gone..." And then the bridge: "So take all your diamond rings and your pretty things and just move along....there's always someone else to replace you when you are gone."

And The Dissident is very clearly an anti-war song. Slash called it Myles' political statement, and Myles has said it's about a soldier who doesn't believe in the cause. No mystery about that song's meaning.

^makes sense about The Dissident, considering the working title was Conscientious Objector, and that is the literal definition of one

Aiiya. This is so funny. Every single lyric page I see on the internet for a song from WOF is exactly the same as the way I/we wrote them on here. Dirty Girl even has those question marks on like every single website for that part in the bridge and it's so annoying. Is this where people get their lyrics from for AB, Tremonti, Slash, and Creed or something?

Haha yeah you're right. That was my layout on Automatic Overdrive used on some lyric sites. :lol

Next time there's an AB album we should make a bunch of funny typos.

Apparently the question marks in Dirty Girl are as follows based off another websites lyrics
"She got me feeling what I never have known "

And this is a correction to the other line
"She got me reeling; got me losing control."

How did I not hear this before?

The first line of Iris of the Storm is "I wanna sail into the calm" not "set into the calm". I expected this before and thought I wrote it here.

That sig, though. And that is also nothing like what he says in the song! I swear he doesn't anything remotely close to "put it where"! No matter how many times I listen to that line; it sounds like the word has a b-sound and there's no audible "t"! GODDAMMIT MYLES PRONOUNCE YOUR WORDS PROPERLY!

That's exactly what he says! Where are you hearing a "b"?

And this song is about an online showroom, not strippers, Shea. I started laughing once I realized that listening to the song.

I know it's about an online showroom, Cam. I saw the YouTube video. I'm hearing the "b" at 1:01

If you know those ones; do you know what he says in Avalon, too?

"??? billowing up" at :039...Is it actually "fortune and blood"?

[edit] Now someone said "Forged in blood" and that's something I also can hear :/

Yeah I bought the CD so I have the lyric book. I'll come back and post up corrections tomorrow or sometime later on. I think I read "fortune blood, billowing up" but I don't remember for sure. I remember looking at the Wicked Stone lyrics for the last chorus but they didn't include those extra lines that Myles sings. The high part before "can't face, yeah" before the outro solo trips me up every time.

Yeah the booklet has missing stuff here and there. I guess its mostly stuff thats not clearly decipherable. A lot of the places you guys have "vocalising" in. Avalon says "Forged in blood"

I don't know if anyone cares about the lyrics anymore but this website might have all the correct ones.
