No, I think you're taking the lyrics of Wicked Stone too literally. I see it as sort of a "fuck it"/frustrated song. Have you ever heard Incubus' Pardon Me? "Pardon me while I burst into flames, I've had enough of this world and its peoples' mindless games." It doesn't mean he literally wants to set himself on fire. Same here with Myles, its not about suicide. He's just expressing a frustration with the world/society. That's how I interpret it.SHEAKENBAKEN wrote:So then what are all the songs on the album about?
1. World on Fire -
2. Shadow Life - about the dangers and downsides to living a secret/"shadow" life.
3. Automatic Overdrive - about a person running/jogging? a metaphor for a persons lifestyle?
4. Wicked Stone - about wanting to/thinking of committing suicide? ("I wanna get off this wicked stone")
5. 30 Years to Life - serving jail time for a crime committed.
6. Bent to Fly - About a mothers child leaving to go live their own life.
7. Stone Blind - the girls beauty has him "stone blind" to her true nature and she deceived and used him
8. Too Far Gone -
9. Beneath the Savage Sun - poaching of elephants/animals
10. Withered Delilah -
11. Battleground - a relationship gone bad/with issues.
12. Dirty Girl - Show girls/strippers at a club
13. Iris of the Storm -
14. Avalon -
15. The Dissident -
16. Safari Inn - I presume it's the music that plays over the PA at a Safari Inn
17. The Unholy - Child molestation/abuse in the catholic church
I think Withered Delilah is about stupid ass celebrities and their 15 minutes of fame. Think Snooki, Kardashians, etc. "You know it's true that no one cares anymore....You had your time and now your moment is all but gone..." And then the bridge: "So take all your diamond rings and your pretty things and just move along....there's always someone else to replace you when you are gone."
And The Dissident is very clearly an anti-war song. Slash called it Myles' political statement, and Myles has said it's about a soldier who doesn't believe in the cause. No mystery about that song's meaning.
