One of their best songs yet. It's right up there with Anastasia, Starlight and Back From Cali for me.

So the story goes
This is a tale
That must be told
Of what could be your destiny
you'll never know

I never meant to be here
I never even tried
But I tell you know
When you're lost and downed
Here come a troublin' time

It was a cold December
A wet city night
In a steel-toed rage
Made a big mistake
Now I'll be doin' time

I was running with the order
I was running out of time
Now for me there is no quarter
I don't want to be here!
I don't wanna die!

Serving 30 Years To Life
What I did I can't deny
Now the sorrow in my heart will never fade
I remember it so well
The night I sent that boy to hell
Lord, I'm sorry for the error of my ways

They sent me on a mission
Out to earn my stripes
Shoulda known damn well
when the curbstone fell
Things would never be right

I was running with the order
I was running out of time
Not for me there is no quarter
I don't want to be here!
How many nights I've cried!

Serving 30 Years To Life
What I did I can't deny
Now the sorrow in my heart will never fade
I remember it so well
The night I sent that boy to hell
Lord, I'm sorry for the error of my ways

Cause now I know
Now I know
I was wrong and I can't let this go
I know
Now I know
I am sorry
What a wretched soul

Oh what a big mistake

(Solo)

Now i'm growing old
18 years or more to go
I waste away in this cage
I'm all alone

Thats how the story goes
This is a tale that must be told
For what could be our destiny
You'll never know

Cause when you're running with the order
You're only running out of time
Now for me there is no quarter
I didn't want to be here!
I don't want to die!

Serving 30 Years To Life
What I did I can't deny
Now the sorrow in my heart will never fade
My regret, I know it well
But it's too late to save myself
Lord, I'm sorry for the error of my ways
Oh Yeah

(So the story goes; this is a tale that must be told; of what could be your destiny; you'll never know) x 2
The sorrow in my heart will never fade
Cause I'm sorry for the error of my ways!

Not sure about the one in the chorus, but I'm definitely hearing a 'B'

If it's a studio version and it's not from any official channel (Slash's, Roadrunner Records, any affiliates to Live Nation or any other concert promoter like the Download Festival channel), then it's probably not all right to post it.
Yup! :)

I like the track. It doesn't excite me in the same way World On Fire did, but its pretty cool.

Meh, it's alright. Absolutely live Bent to Fly, Word on Fire is good, and this is average, definitely my least favorite of the three

His vocalizations are dangerous to my ears.... Still can't figure out some of the words, though... :/

I don't think it crushes World On Fire. It's a good song, but I liked World On Fire a lot too. I have high hopes for this album after hearing the 3 singles. So far the material is shaping up to be MUCH better than Apocalyptic Love.

when the (????) failed - when the curbstone fell (or failed, can't tell with no headphones)
Things would never be right

I think that if nothing else this is a far more inspired effort based on the songs we have heard thus far. Seems like there is going to be some diversity as we've already seen with people latching on to one song or another as being a clear standout.

I am just digging the overall sound and vibe of what we've heard so far. They seem to have found a sound/direction as a band that didn't really exist on AL.

If the whole album turns out to be this good, you all will just have to thank Elvis. ;)

I love the words to this song too. Although its nothing complicated, I love how it just transforms and progresses. I love the intro/bridge "So the story GOOOOES this is a tale that must be told." Still enjoying this song a ton. I really hope the rest of the album is like this or bent to fly

Am I the only one getting the "Heaven Knows" by The Pretty Reckless vibe from this song? The "So the story goes" section of this song.

Don't get me wrong--I love the song. Just wondering if I'm the only one getting this vibe.

That's creepy because I thought the exact same thing when I heard it the first time. :lol
