What a let down of a thread. :lol
It was played, but Gilby sang it by the looks of it.

It's a shame Slash doesn't play more Use Your Illusion stuff, I always thought some of his best guitar work was on it.

Ah, still a let down though, always wanted to hear Myles sing that. I agree about the Illusion stuff. He loves playing the Appetite songs, but I always thought Civil War was one of the best songs he and Myles re-performed on a somewhat regular basis. Would like to hear more of that stuff.

I think Slash tried to keep away from Axl's songs.

I can see him playing songs like Locomotive, Pretty Tied Up, Bad Obssession, Double Talking Jive and even You Could be Mine (I really, really want him to play that... Myles would sound great).

But it is really unlike he is going to play others really good songs from UYI, such as Estranged, Yesterdays, Coma, November Rain, ...

About the show, they could have played an Alter Bridge song, dont you think?

Ehhhhh, if that were to be the case, most likely, they are going to play Rise Today and, quite frankly, with the way the show is advertised and billed, I just don't think it is enough of a classic rock-vibe song to play on a show like this.

Now if that show was billed to also have Mark in it (I know he is tracking guitars at this moment, but let's play it in a imaginary scenario), maybe they could have pulled off Blackbird.

There's no way they're going to do an Alter Bridge song. These are all legendary and famous songs they're playing..

I dont consider Velvet Revolver songs legendary and famous. They have some good songs, although not legendary, in my point of view.

They could play an AB song, just to support Myles.

The entire Velvet Revolver band (minus the singer) is there playing, though.

A Slash N' Myles song, maybe.

I understand they are there. I am not against to they play VR songs.

But, my argument is that they are not just playing legendary songs. And Myles is there too, helping them. It would be fair, in my point of view.

Now, you can say that they dont have time to learn a AB song. But even if that was the case, I dont think it would be such a problem, to professional musicians to learn a song like Rise Today (which I think they would play, if they would play).

Anyway, just saying it will be nice. =)

I'm going to be brutally honest, if the only Alter Bridge song they could play is Rise Today, I'd rather they didn't play one. I don't think it's a good song to introduce people to the band with.

And I do get your point, but I think it's understandable they play Velvet Revolver stuff when they're all there, even though those songs don't stack up to the others.

Yeah, I understand what you are saying, and I wouldn't like them to play Rise Today either, but for different reasons. It is too overplayed already (like Open Your Eyes, for example).

But, just because I've been completely rational here I would say if they played, they would play that one. I wouldnt want to, but it is the easier way. And, that's where we diverge, I would rather they played Rise Today than none. =)

It looks like tonight's set was the exact same. I wish Myles had sang Knockin' on Heaven's Door instead of Gilby. I think it would be cool if they had incorporated a Stones cover for Gilby to sing instead, like Dead Flowers which he covered on his first solo album.

I hope we get some more videos soon, I'd love to see some of the Guns songs!

Speaking of Knockin' on Heaven's Door...

Found that on MyGNR. Someone in the crowd is singing the Axl parts, it's cracking me up. =D

EDIT: I found Highway Star and Paradise City just now.

EDIT 2: That Paradise City is exactly why I'm not upset with Myles going out on tour right now. His vocals are amazing and those long notes around 2:25? Good lord.

He always busts his ass out on tour w/ Slash, not surprised a bit he brought his A-game.
The last 2 nights in Cape Town South Africa with Kings of Chaos were epic!!
That was Myles tweet tonight.

No one ever says anything bad about the cities they just played, but he rarely uses the word epic from what I have gathered over time.

I think the trip and these few shows has been alot of fun for him as it is a group of guys outside of Slash he really doesn't play with ever, and in the cases of Glen Hughes and Joe Elliot I have no doubt he has just enjoyed shooting the shit and hanging out with them as they are both extremely accomplished vocalists as well. You always enjoy a chance to rub elbows with some of the best in your given profession.

Throw in they are in a beautiful part of the world and I can totally understand putting off recording vocals for a few weeks for an excellent free summer vacation.

2:25 :bow

I love how Myles always busts his ass out in some musics... the end of songs like Summergirl, Never Born to Follow, Far and Away... there are so many.

I think that one of the things that define him as a vocalist (this and the famous "that's right" in live performaces). :)
