Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones Couldn't Agree On New Singer

That quote basically makes it sound like JPJ was digging Myles but Jimmy Page wasn't really feeling him for the job.

Hmmm, that's awesome that John Paul Jones thought Myles would be qualified for this project that JPJ/Page/Jason Bonham had planned when Plant did not want to do Zeppelin. Shame that it did not happen though, could have awesome, no..... epic.

It'd probably be similar to what's happening now, with Zeppelin instead of Slash. I think Myles' tryout with JPJ/Page/Bonham is what got Slash's attention. He says something to this effect on the Made in Stoke DVD interview bonus feature: "I kept hearing about this Myles Kennedy guy, and then I heard he was picked to do the Zeppelin tour, and then I thought 'Well, he must be good'". That's when he decided to call Myles for what would become the song Starlight.

I doubt Alter Bridge would still be functioning if the Zep stuff had happened myself. It's an order of magnitude bigger than even being Slash's singer.

I don't know, I think it would have been more of a one-off tour. Maybe an album as well. But nothing long-term like Slash has become.

I dont think Led Zep would've been any more than a one off tour. A record would've been too much to ask of them all.. It'd be like trying to get Pink Floyd to record again

It definitely would have been an album. It wasn't an LZ tour they wanted a singer for. It was a completely different project with a new name and new material. JPJ even says it in that quote. I couldn't see them with new material going out on the road without releasing an album.

I think it is because Plant does not feel that he could match the performance level from the O2 Arena concert as well as performances from their heyday (which is kinda unreasonable for the fans to expect performances to match the caliber of their heyday). Also, Plant was working with someone else at that period. Some country/blues singer or something.

Alison Krauss. And while not all of their songs are my thing, he is better off with her. It suits his voice and he doesn't have to kill himself night after night trying to pull of Zep stuff.

Doesn't he also have troubles with his ears? I remember reading an interview where he said that he went to a Them Crooked Vultures gig and that his ears just couldn't handle it because it was too loud and that he kinda was done with playing harder rockmusic.
