So there's a section on The Range Place for guitarists and I wanted to make a thread for Myles (and eventually Mark Tremonti). So what do you guys think are Myles' best solos and riffs? You don't have to come up with all ten for both, just whatever you can come up with (preferably one solo and one riff at the least)
I'll Start off with mine:
Solos:
Blackbird
Cry of Achilles
You See It
Believe
Reigns Over Me (both)
Spiritus
Now 'Til Then
Lickin' Anna Slickin'
The Night Watchman
Pacify
Riffs:
Bleed It Dry (verse)
Calm The Fire (bridge)

How can I steal an idea? You just happened to remind me of a solo and a riff that I agreed was worth mentioning...So post a different two!Timotheus wrote:Looks like you stole my ideas can't mention enough how awesome the solo in Pacify is!

I loved the overall guitar tone in Come Back to Me. Does that count for something? Oh and, of course, his intro in Cry of Achilles.

Tones unfortunately don't count for much, Kev. It's got to be a Riff or a Solo...Yeah I was wondering that, though. Does the fingerpicked intro of COA count as a Acoustic Riff? Acoustic Solo?anguyen92 wrote:I loved the overall guitar tone in Come Back to Me. Does that count for something? Oh and, of course, his intro in Cry of Achilles.

The riff in Loose Cannon is Myles' most underrated riff in my opinion. So good.

I've been meaning to respond here for a while. I haven't come up with a list yet but every solo he played on Fortress beats out Blackbird. I'm sorry but I think you people all rate that solo way too high. Don't get me wrong, it's still an awesome solo. But he's done better. The thing that bothers me the most about it is if you see the dvd where he explains how he created it, it just feels too much like it wasn't as flowing as it sounds. I mean that he just put too much thought into it, instead of playing a little more loosely and off the cuff.

^ I agree. His lines and solos on Fortress are extremely well done. Not to mention his tone is the best it's ever been.
