Destruction Comes Quick

Does shared experience defy lack of knowledge?
Empathetic reticence resulting in misery.
Denying loved ones to set aflame the bridge.
Before there comes a new evil swathed in flattery.

So we fall upon our dagger,
when hope denies happiness
until nothing else shall matter
but impossible dreams transgress.

Go to find some broken peace
at the expense of yourself.
Chase the unattainable release,
history perched atop the shelf.

The depth of a human soul is a marvel,
in as much as it's depravity tears us down.
Deflect, absorb, destroy and grovel.
Lay waste to all who help as you drown.

Hear me now as I plead to you!

Turn your anger from yourself.
Save the future you never hope for.
About turn this march of destruction,
before the beautiful devil's door.

There is a tomorrow that you can't see.
Let me tear the misery away today.
The cure for your addiction isn't free
but there truly is another way.

Redeem your past aquaintances
to forgive yourself a mistaken love.
The sun that abandoned your world
comes back around to shine from above.

Thank you guys. It's about the fickleness of human affection.

Two friends of mine, of 7 years, have fallen out over a woman they met maybe a couple of months ago. One is basically destroying himself by keeping in contact with her and is heading for a mental breakdown. She is emotionally abusing him and he has deflected all anger to my other friend. I can't reach him and this is just me venting my frustration.

I would put it to music but I can't come up with anything sad enough haha.

Yeah that's really good :bow Sometimes when there isn't a good amount of "simple" language, the listener or reader can lose interest because there's too much to take in, but I think it really works in this case. I like it a lot!

I've toyed with this song for a bit. I've got an uplifting pre-chorus and some other ideas but I think they might change to something a bit sadder, rather than heavy:
