Repository of my broken dreams (music)

So, I pushed a rock up a hill for 5 years (i.e. tried to keep a local originals band together). Unfortunately, that has gone to the wayside and I've been left with an almost finished 2nd album. I thought I'd share some of the music here and maybe some people might like it and at least I'll get it off my hard drive to someone's ears. The band was called Mannaforra and we were a hard rock/metal group with melodic singing and hopefully interesting riffage.

Anyway, here is the instrumental portion of a song I was particularly proud of production-wise - It's called Genetic Hangover:

The next one is Hot and Cold - a song about abusive relationships:

That's great, would work well with vocals too. Is that all real (real drum kit or plugin?). Are you influenced by Tool by any chance?

Thanks, man. I appreciate that. I can see the Tool comparison for this one, though I'm not really a fan of them (apart from The Pot - that song is nearly perfect). It's cool to hear that referenced though.

The drums are transcribed from real parts but this is a plugin at the moment (we could never quite get the money or kit together to do it properly, though I do like mixing real drums).

There are actually lyrics to this one but I burnt out creatively before I could get the melody set down, so this is where it is left for now. There are actually another 5 or 6 tracks to share in various states of completion from this aborted album (some totally finished).

Fun fact about this one - it was the only completed song in our catalogue that I managed to get another band member to actually put their instrumental part down, in this case rhythm guitar (the only other one where I actually got everyone's contribution was a demo).

Aw man, I'm sorry to hear the band isn't working out. My shitty garage rock band (that you can hear on the TABN Community Album!) lasted for a few years and sort of burned out due to members coming and going, clashing personalities, all of that. It sucks, but I think that's just part of music and growing as individual people (especially if doing this in your 20s/30s when people are finding their place in the world). On the plus side, losing that band opened me up to go off on my own and start doing solo acoustic stuff and stepping up to the mic and start singing, which is really what I'd always dreamed of doing in the first place. So hopefully this opens up a new door for you, one way or another!

Cheers man. It's a bummer to finally admit defeat on the band after so many years of fighting to even keep it treading water. I'm still active on the local live scene playing with the jazz/blues band, which is fun. I'm also doing a metal covers band with a friend of mine, which will hopefully start gigging in the next few months.
