Mayfield Four rig and guitars?

Post by cheesedip1 »

What amps and guitars is the Mayfield Four using on their two albums + unreleased demos?
If anyone could answer this, that would be nice.

Thanks.

Ooh thanks man. I really appreciate it.

While we're on the subject, what tuning is Myles using on the songs Mars Hotel and Lyla?

There is a tab for Mars Hotel in E standard. Lyla also seems to be in that tuning.

Are you referring to the 2 tabs on Ultimate Guitar.com? That gives the basic chords that the songs are based around, but it doesn't necesscarily mean that they are in that tuning.

Of course, maybe your ears are just really good at picking up on those type of things....

Nah, this one: https://tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/t/the_ ... ar_pro.htm is a guitar pro tab that is in Standard E and the song seems quite playable in that tuning, but the key is D# Major which may suggest that the guitar is in E flat. Sometimes you can't know the tuning without asking the artist. It is hard to figure it out by ear, you can only guess basically.
Lyla can actually be in drop D, the key is D Minor, but again, I'm not sure.

I saw at Bofest that Myles was playing Mars Hotel in uhh half step down tuning but I still wasn't sure. I thought maybe he was just playing it that way for some other reason idk. Like for stylistic purposes.

It makes much more sense to perform a D# Minor song in Standard D#, cause then all the open strings can be used to one's advantage.
