Cauterize tunings/tabs/guitar related stuff

Post by Dolo »

Has anyone started to figure out some tunings or parts? Here are my guesses as regards tunings:

Radical Change - Drop C#
Flying Monkeys - Drop C#
Cauterize - Drop C#
Arm Yourself - Drop C#
Dark Trip - Drop B/Open B5 (not so sure here)
Another Heart - Drop C#
Fall Again - Drop C#/Open C#5 (not so sure here)
Tie the Noose - Drop B
Sympathy - Open D5
Providence - Drop B/Open B5 (not so sure here)

This is gonna be my favorite thread for a while. Gonna take a good listen with my guitar later.

Believe you me, I will definitely update the tuning thread when I can figure out what tunings the songs are in. But I can definitely tell you that there is a much wider variety of tunings in regards to tuning down. I know Arm Yourself is in C Standard, and there are definitely songs that have the Drop D version of that tuning which is Drop A# !
And Flying Monkeys and Radical Change are definitely in C# Standard.

I think Providence is in fact tuned to Open B5. Im figuring out the intro/verse part at the moment.

In an interview with the German "guitar" magazine, he stated that Radical Change was standard tuning tuned down to B ("the riff starts on the 13th fret on the A-string and incorporates the open E-string") and Arm Yourself was tuned down to Ab (it doesn't say whether it was tuned down from standard or Drop D tuning, I guess the latter) and that this was the lowest tuning on the whole record.

Yeah, I figured it out only based on the key the main riffs are in, so when it is C# I'm thinking either C# Standard or Drop C#, and Radical Change and Arm Yourself are in C# Minor

Based on a set list picture from the listening party Arm Yourself is listed as C-F-A#-D#-G-C. That's 2 steps from standard. I wonder if some of these have Mark and Erock playing different tunings.

Could very well be, considering a FB post from a while back where he or Mark stated that they have x number of tunings on tour. Or maybe he just figured that it's easier for him to sing the song with a higher tuning when playing live (much like the have a different tuning for Waters Rising in live situations).
