Alter Bridge/Creed/Mark Tremonti Tuning Master List
Re: Alter Bridge/Creed/Mark Tremonti Tuning Master List
"A Dying Machine" is in Drop B. 6/8 or 6/4 signature @ 145 BPM
Re: Alter Bridge/Creed/Mark Tremonti Tuning Master List
Somebody posted a cover tuned to Standard B and it would make sense cause it seems like Mark is using these 'extended' sus powerchords where you drop the fifth down an octave so you get for instance:Unkn0wn1 wrote:"A Dying Machine" is in Drop B. 6/8 or 6/4 signature @ 145 BPM

Eric Friedman has said that new single Take You With Me is in E Standard, according to a post on the Army of 12 FB page.

Got any chords or anything to try playing along? Or maybe someone else has tried?

Re: Alter Bridge/Creed/Mark Tremonti Tuning Master List
I asked Myles at the Houston Meet and Greet and after initially saying he couldn't remember, he and Tim decided that One Fine Day is the same tuning as Ghost of Shangri La (CGCGCD) with a Capo on the 5th Fret (I think...whatever would end up with an F as the bass note). Tim pulled me aside later and pulled his phone out to confirm that was the tuning.DarkKnight12 wrote:I believe One Fine Day is in E standard with capo on 1st fretKreuger wrote:Alright so I think I've figured out what he meant by those tunings now so I've made it into a list. Cool thanks for the info! I think in the mini doc there's a clip of him playing it with a capo so that seems right.

Re: Alter Bridge/Creed/Mark Tremonti Tuning Master List
Has Anyone already figured out the tuning for As the Silence Becomes Me?
Re: Alter Bridge/Creed/Mark Tremonti Tuning Master List
Judging from the last note in the song, there's a low B in there. But it doesn't sound dropped. Maybe B Standard?
Edit: there's a cover on YouTube and the guy said he thinks drop d but his guitar is a half step lower

Re: Alter Bridge/Creed/Mark Tremonti Tuning Master List
Yeah i saw that. But i believe Mark is using a different tuning Because the high F sounds like an open string as weel as the D. If you listen closely you can hear that the F is open string. Firs tof all, the song is in D minor, so i was thinking of a open D of some sort. The tuning could be something like DADADF (considering one of Mark's most famous tuning is DADADD) but the B string tuned to an Higher D instead of a lower D and the E string to an F (1 tone higer). I cannot really try it because it would break my guitar (tension and whatnot) but it would allow to play the song with the right open strings. Are you sure ther's a low B?
Re: Alter Bridge/Creed/Mark Tremonti Tuning Master List
Honestly man I can barely tell the difference between notes. I wouldn't notice the F was different. I just try to compare them to other songs. I'm far from sure it's a low B. I haven't tried it out. It just sounds low.

Re: Alter Bridge/Creed/Mark Tremonti Tuning Master List
Mark is seriously coming back to soms old good tunings. This is the official tab in Drop D: https://tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/tab/tr ... al_2399429
Re: Alter Bridge/Creed/Mark Tremonti Tuning Master List
Any idea on the tuning of Desolation? Definitely a dropped tuning, but I can’t make out that bass note. It sounds like it could be in either B or even A#, the heavy riff sounds similar to Bleed it Dry/Tore My Heart Out so I assume A#. Have a hard time believing the acoustic is also that low, though

Shit, really didn’t think he’d go that low. Maybe he’s using the 7-string again?Dolo wrote:That's G#.

Unless Mark or Eric had any input on the tab (which I doubt) it's not official.Dolo wrote:Mark is seriously coming back to soms old good tunings. This is the official tab in Drop D: https://tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/tab/tr ... al_2399429

Re: Alter Bridge/Creed/Mark Tremonti Tuning Master List
Hello all!
I'm sorry I haven't been actively posting on here in the past year or so. Life has been very busy -- working hard in the local TV news business, winning Emmy and Associated Press awards and all that jazz.
But enough of that, y'all want tunings! So I need to get myself up to speed on the AB bonus tracks (haven't gotten the CD/MP3 versions of them yet, I've been sidetracked). I wasn't necessarily planning on doing Year of the Tiger, since that's a Myles only thing... but I can try my best if y'all want that.
But I've gotten a good handle of the tracks on A Dying Machine (aside from Now or Never -- I still haven't received my physical CD copy from Walmart yet in the mail) !!
Here they are -
Bringer of War - E Standard
From the Sky - Drop D
A Dying Machine - B Standard
Trust - Eb Standard
Throw Them to the Lions - C Standard
Make it Hurt - C Standard
Traipse - Eb Standard
The First, the Last - Drop D
A Lot Like Sin - D Standard
The Day When Legions Burned - D Standard
As the Silence Becomes Me - D A E A D F (Mark said this was patterned off of the This Side of Fate tuning, but either half a step or a full step up. However, the open strings clearly indicate a high F in there somewhere. That would make it a step and a half up from the This Side of Fate tuning. For the people hearing a low B, it's actually a lower note in there. The bass guitar is playing a super low octave A at some points in the song. And at the end of the song, I'm pretty sure the bass is playing that low octave A and the guitar is playing an inverted fifth A5 power chord)
Take You With Me - E Standard
Desolation - G# F# B E G# C# (this could possibly be a 7-string tuned down a step and a half -- the same tuning as Show Me a Leader -- but the chance of Mark using a 7-string acoustic guitar seems low to me?)
Let me know what you guys think of this!
Also, it seems so crazy to me that this thread has simply blown up and taken a mind of its own over the past four years. You guys here at The Alter Bridge Nation are just too awesome -- simply the best. Thank you for keeping this idea alive.
