My Champion (B G# C# F# A# D#): We know that this is what Mark is in at least (this is basically CADGBE a half step down, idk why people got so confused over this).

Now people being confused about Myles's tuning I can understand. If I go off of the live video of Myles's open strings, and Myles possibly being tuned down for the low E string for any rhythm parts, Myles is in Open G with a drop tuning, half step down (B F# C# F# A# C#). This tuning I'm somewhat used to from jamming around to Big Wreck songs so much (and this is also a high likelihood that Myles got this tuning from Ian Thornley and company as well).

Things were not made any easier with the live video being tuned down to A# range. If he is not tuned down, then he's just normal Open G tuned down half a step.

Myles isn't in a drop tuning, you can tell that he plays his power chords in the chorus in a two fret interval instead of the same fret, meaning the two low strings would have to be tuned to C# and F#.

I'm kinda surprised by the number of people discussing TLH guitar related topic. Back in Fortress days, we had people tabbing songs out and posting tuning guesses every day. it's pretty sad actually.

Hey Dakota. For My Champion, it was the odd wording that confused us.

Honestly Mark and Myles's odd wording has confused even me on a lot of their songs this record, mainly Cradle to the Grave. "Whole half step"?

Somebody on UG posted a tab of Writing on a Wall in A#G#C#F#A#D#. Not sure if that's correct, but juding from the crazy pull-off extravaganza in the bridge, it might be this one an not the regular Drop A#.

Myles in leader is in Eb so the standard but 1/2 step down.
Mark is the same but with a seventh string in Ab

Poison is in the same tuning as addicted to pain so 1/2 step down but with the low Eb dropped to C#.

My champion is " That’s a new tuning for this record. It’s half-step down and the low string is tuned to C (but it's a B when down)."

Twilight is DADGAD

The last hero is standard but 1/2 step down so Eb . But i'm not sure about this one, i think myles said taht during an interview but i'm not sure.

The Other Side i think it's : B F# B E G# C# (From low to high string)

The Writing on the walls is probably like someone said before, Eb but the E dropped to B so Bb Ab db Gb Bb Eb

If anyone has This Side of Fate tuning and the correct one for The Last Hero (assuming i'm wrong about that), Please tell me.

The Last Hero is Drop C, I'm pretty sure.

It's has been already confirmed a couple times that it's A#G#C#F#A#D#.

Yeah that throws me off. The way the riff pulls off in the chorus sounds like it would have to be drop d and a half step.

That's the most confusing bit I've ever heard.

Just CADGBE but a half step down, so the low C is a B (and all the other notes are a half step down as well).

Well this thread blew up while I was sleeping!

Here are some tunings that I'm 95% sure about:

A# G# C# F# A# D#
The Writing on the Wall
The Other Side
Symphony of Agony

B G# C# G# A# D#
My Champion
You Will Be Remembered

C# G# C# F# A# D#
Show Me a Leader (Myles)
Cradle to the Grave (Mark)
Losing Patience
Poison in Your Veins

This Side of Fate - I tweeted Mark about this, but I have yet to receive a response. But I know the low E string is tuned to B for sure.

CGCFAD - these I know for sure
Crows on a Wire
Island of Fools
The Last Hero

C# G# C# F# G# C#
Twilight - they said DADGAD in the article, but you can clearly hear C# notes all over the song.

D# G# C# F# A# D#
Breathe

Maybe because his ears work fine. There is no low B note in Losing Patience and Island of Fools, there is low C instead of C# in The Last Hero, just to name a few.

I have no issue admitting that I have a hard time hearing a difference a half step would make. Im not saying hes wrong and Im right. Im just looking for his reasoning.

What Dolo said. No B in Island of Fools, Not C# in The Last Hero.

You just need to keep listening over and over and over. And over.

That and also comparing the recording to another source really helps. That can be your guitar, the Guitar Pro program, a guitar tuner.

What also helps is that I've trained my ear to identify notes immediately by matching a note to a certain song.

For instance,
A# = Come to Life
B = Dream Theater's "The Mirror"
C = Metallica's St. Anger album
C# = Dream Theater's "New Millennium" along with a ton of Alter Bridge songs
D = Led Zeppelin's "Kashmir"
D# = Metallica's "Fuel"
E = Metallica's "Nothing Else Matters"

Other thing that also helps is to listen to any possibilities of open notes or harmonics - because those can be giveaways to what tunings can be.

Like for instance, when I first heard the Tremonti song "Providence" I immediately knew that was in Open B5, because of the high B string 12th fret harmonic in the intro.

Just keep listening - that's what it all goes back to!

To be honest, I could hum low C and low D being woken up in the middle of the night. I might have a problem with low C# though. Just years of listening to music.
