Does this even exists? I've listened to a lot of djent bands and in the beginning I was like "Wow nice riff!", then once the vocals enter I'm like "WTF?". This has happened to me a lot of times that I end up listening only to Cloudkicker and Animal As Leaders, BOTH instrumental bands. I love Meshuggah though.
Bands that I dig only until the intro:
FellSilent
Periphery
Not that the vocals are bad, I just don't dig it.
I've searched in the net but I end up in djent forums which specifically have people in it that are in a very different taste than what I have. I'm thinking if there are djent bands that have a kennedy/cornell/akerfeldt type of vocals?
Djent Bands that have a DECENT VOCALIST?
Re: Djent Bands that have a DECENT VOCALIST?
lol I don't think you're gonna find any djent bands with Myles-esque vocals hahahaha. The Periphery vocalist sucks balls I agree. You might like Textures, they're very similar to Meshuggah, though more melodic at times.

same singer as Tesseract

< probably more Tech than Djent but w/e
Some female vox

Definatly more Meshuggah-ish

And you can still check some instrumental ones, Periphery's first album is completely avaiable as instrumental, so is Tesseract's.
Sithu Aye, Chimp Spanner, Intervals, Modern Day Babylon, and Bulb are all great instrumental djent artists as well.

The band "Syqem" are really cool. Not completely Djent, but they have their moments. Their debut album "Reflections of Elephants" is killer - one of my favourite albums this year.
Re: Djent Bands that have a DECENT VOCALIST?
Thanks all. I've listened to Textures, Skyharbor, and Syqem. Will try to listen to all you've suggested dayviewer.

No offense to Djent or fans of the genre, but I find it hilarious that this thread is seemingly dead already, as if there are no other good vocalists to find.

Aussie band "Circles" are pretty cool - kinda prog metal/djent.
Re: Djent Bands that have a DECENT VOCALIST?
So what exactly is Djent? Just really low turned guitars or...? I honestly don't know what the genre consists of.

Any musical movement that isn't an Electronic music movement is fine by me.

, well i guess it's just because most people on this board aren't interested in the genre.Jaded Rescue wrote:No offense to Djent or fans of the genre, but I find it hilarious that this thread is seemingly dead already, as if there are no other good vocalists to find.
Djent describes the sound of a palm muted chord being strum on a low tuned guitar, basically.Andy92 wrote:So what exactly is Djent? Just really low turned guitars or...? I honestly don't know what the genre consists of.
The word has grown to stand for a genre though, which mostly consists of low tuned guitars, some odd time signatures, clean ambient stuff, and technical riffs.
But to my opinion it's all just still some way of Prog Metal, i don't really care
