I don't like how the split went either but I forgot about it already. I have to say watching all of Portnoy's dvds is pretty amazing, especially the one where the camera is on just him during the entire Score concert.

This is the Six Degrees part

I almost love Dream Theater as much as I do AB... My favourite track is Forsaken, although my favourite album is Scenes from a Memory. Originally discovered them through Guitar Hero. Superb musicians.

Although I do like the latest album and MM is a great replacement, I do miss MP and would have him back there in an instant - things just don't seem the same without him....

I'd go with the "Who's your daddy, M?" line here, but maybe it's best I just walk away.

Non DT related but it's worth a mention. Portnoy had a meltdown on stage earlier this week. He trashed his drums because OMGosh.......................... his snare mic fell off during a song. lol click the link for the full story.

I understand his frustrations but you don't have to throw a fit like that. Suck it up. This is just another reason why I'm glad he's not with Dream Theater.

I read a post of his on his forums which explains his actions. Apparently for the entire tour they were unable to use their own gear and their own techs, so they rented the gear and hired out techs. The venues and the gear rental people kept on getting all wrong constantly, so Mike was pissed. But he still didn't need to start throwing stuff around.

His explanation is in the link and like I said I understand his frustrations but that's uncalled for. Any drummer would die to be in the position he's in and I think he takes for granted things like having a tech cater to his every need.

If he was going to stop the song anyway, why didn't he just fix it himself? It's pretty clear that the tech didn't understand English...

I know you are just observing, but here in our country with just around 80% literacy rate, everybody has capacity to talk and understand english. The problem (which I speculate) was that the techs were too pressured that there exist a communication gap between portnoy and the techs (maybe because they didn't got his english due to his accent).

If you are working in the music industry here in the philippines, there is a small possibility that you don't know portnoy, so that adds up to the pressure to the techs.

Personally, I didn't like what portnoy did. We waited for a long time just to see foreign metal/rock bands to be here in our country and we usually just expect for an entertaining show. Just imagine how many good bands here in the philipipines have to play on bad amps, badly repaired drums, etc. But I also think many people in the net overreacted to what he did. Yeah it's not nice that he throw drum parts in the stage, but they at least finished the show.

I agree but it wasn't even a huge deal... just a snare mic. He could have fixed it easily without throwing a hissy fit. Speaking of these shows - I'm not really digging their covers of DT/LTE. Mostly because they didn't have much time to practice & nail down Petrucci's guitar parts and it shows. Then again... it's pretty tough to nail any solo written by JP.

Also just to note I read an interview with Derek Sherinian the other day & he mentioned something about having personal issues playing Jordan's keyboard parts... which is pretty ridiculous if you ask me. He then brought up him talking to Mike about it & he said he understood seeing as he would never play Mangini's drum parts if he ever reunited with Dream Theater.
