Still lacking northeast dates... Supposedly there are still more coming. I thought they said yesterday that there would be more announced, but there was nothing that I saw other than the video with Matt and Chris. Need the dates so I can schedule time off work if need be. Just hope they're not thanksgiving week. That's going to be a brutal time at work. Won't be able to go at all if there are any that week.

Alright so here's an honest question:

How much lower can these guys continue to down-tune? When "Become the Enemy" was first released as "Enemy" on The End of the Beginning, the song was in D. Then "Become the Enemy" was released and the song was in C. Then I watch a live video from October and the song is in Bb.

What the heck is going on with Chris's voice that they need to keep down-tuning so much? I mean they still sound okay but live he tends to just cut lines short or let the crowd finish, and at this rate I'm wondering when they're going to switch to baritone guitars and start playing stuff in G or something.

This comes from a fan of the band who isn't trying to talk any trash, I'm just concerned for Chris's voice and I want him to be able to perform for years to come. I hope it isn't a matter of bad choices like alcohol or something destroying his voice. Anyone have any idea?

Haven't you complained about this "concern" before? What did you think when you heard them live this year? I think all their vocals sound far better than years ago.

And don't they already play baritone guitars?

It sounds really nasally and strained. I wonder if he's dealing with allergies or a sickness lately or something? He sounds too good on the record for him to just have a shitty voice, and when I first saw them in '09 with Creed they sounded sick. I wonder if maybe he blew out his chords? I really hope it isn't a drinking thing like Stapp or something.
Oh, back then you accused Chris of being an alcoholic.

Whoa whoa jeez I'm not trying to accuse the guy of anything. I'm just worried and if history tells us anything it's that there's usually something behind vocal changes like this. It could be alcohol, or it could be coffee, allergies, or some other illness, or just bad singing technique. I don't know what it is, I'm just saying I hope the guy's ok. I don't mean to come off accusatory at all.

I just know I've heard his voice go downhill, it sounds more strained over the last couple years and they keep down-tuning. It's concerning, that's all. I just want him to sound at his best like any other fan.

They released Pure Evil, first song off the new album, on Friday. New album early 2017 I would guess.
I like the music, especially picking out some of the details like, oh, there's Chris on his resonator. And that they said, fuck it, we're keeping all 7 minutes. Don't like Chris's vocals being so buried or screaming rather than singing, but that's my anti-growling tastes plus listening on my computer speakers. I always like them better live than studio anyway, and I've seen them live enough that the studio tracks often sound wrong :) This is growing on me each time I listen and figure out more of the lyrics.

Cool cover of Black Sabbath's Paranoid from the free online acoustic show Chris and Matt did a couple of days ago. They prefaced it with talking about opening for Ozzy earlier this year.

Much as I love them, I wasn't quite sure from all the clips they were posting whether I'd like this particular song, but I love it. :rockon
