I thought they were Alternative Rock and Post-Grunge with a little Hard Rock?

Yea, Pop Rock with influences from those genres. Nothing wrong with that, of course.

Yeah they've always been pop rock. The first album had some heavy stuff like What I Want and There And Back Again, but it also had poppy stuff like Used To and Feels Like Tonight. Although the earlier stuff typically had more of an edge to it than these new singles.

I'll give the album a shot, but I've loved this band over the years, and these new songs definitely aren't of the same caliber as some of their older stuff. And I don't mind a change in direction, but the songwriting quality doesn't seem there to me. But I always try to not judge much based off singles.

Daughtry should've stuck to the style of Leave This Town. That album showcased his talents. One of my faves fo' sho. Rock with just enough pop.

I like long live rock'n'roll. I just think waiting for superman is better.

I feel like the change in music styles, although is perfectly fine for any band/artist, is because to me anyway it seems Chris's voice just isn't what it used to be. If you listen to a song like "It's Not Over" and then go put on one like "Start of Something Good", you can see his voice sounds different. I could be wrong though...

I also prefer their rocky side, but I was fine with the pop flirt.
I think Daughtry shines the most when he goes into this southern rock / country style - like in 'Tennessee Line'...

Just tuned in through UK's Digital Spy.

Sounds really nice so far, and I think this'll be the poppiest thing they've ever done...

The journey continues. Love me some Daughtry :)

Shit, just wanted to give the album a spin, because the first two were too polished for me, and now this...

Finished listening to the album... 'Baptized' definitely differs from their previous stuff, I knew it was gonna be the poppiest thing they've ever done, but it's still good, nonetheless.

'Baptized', 'Waiting For Superman', 'I'll Fight', 'The World We Knew', 'Years' and 'Broken Arrows' are the ones that stood out to me the most.

Going for round 2.

^^ Agreed with the songs that you picked as the standouts.

Overall, this album is all right. Even better than I thought it would be, when I heard that this is a more poppier direction. I don't mind the more poppier direction.

All right, I'll admit it. I actually like "Long Live Rock & Roll". I'm sure those guys in UG may not like it. However, screw those guys.

The World We Knew is pretty good as well. Reminds me of something from Break this Spell. Is that a Xylophone at the end of the chorus? I like it.

Well they've definitely progressed in a different direction on this one. I don't really know what my opinion of it is right now...some of the songs are really good, but the album as a whole will have to grow on me. They've always been a pop rock band, but this one has the least rock influence in it. I won't dismiss this album because the sound is different because that doesn't mean it's bad, I'm just not used to it yet. I'm going through my 2nd listen right now, but Broken Arrows was my favorite the first time through.

I have listened to that Rock N Roll song or whatever it is called, and damn, that was horrifying.

My favorites after a couple listens (in no particular order):

-Baptized
-I'll Fight
-The World We Knew
-Broken Arrows
-Traitor (This one's grown on me the most and probably has my favorite chorus)
-18 Years

I checked Spotify, atm, and saw that Baptized had three bonus songs: Undefeated, Cinderella, and Battleship (acoustic). I'm definitely checking those out right now.

Edit: Your enjoyment on those tracks will vary on how much you like the direction of the album. It's ok. I like them, somewhat.

Just listened and I'm impressed, I think it's a very solid album. It's hard to compare it to his previous material but this is a well written album, save a song or two. I miss the rock but unfortunately rock is dead in today's world so I guess that's why he made the drastic switch. I'll Fight is a standout, #1 song potential. Just about the whole album is catchy, even Cinderella is soo catchy lol. Daughtry did well..
