OFFICIAL Trapt thread

Post by cheesedip1 »

Trapt has some great songs. I really liked their first two albums. Third album was okay. Fourth not as good, and their Reborn album was their weakest album, tho it had some good songs. Their newest record comes out soon.

They had some good older songs too, such as "Break Me Out" (I wish they would go back to their old sound), "Alibi", Disemble, Promise, or "I will get whats mine".

Does anyone listen to Trapt besides me?

If u want to start with them, start with their first 2 albums (self titled and Someone in Control).

The only Trapt songs I ever remember listening to were Headstrong and Stand Up. Never listened to any of their other music.

I really liked Disconnected back in the day. Disconnected, Stand Up, Echo, Waiting, Headstrong, and Skin Deep are the only real songs by them I like, though.

If u dont like their first 2 albums, i doubt you would find their other stuff as appealing. I always liked Trapt for their lyrics. I like some of their older stuff better cuz i really like grundge-y minor key rock music.

From their first 2 albums I really liked Made of Glass, Lost Realist, Hollowman, Stories, New Beginning, "When All Is Said and Done, these walls.

-----Hollowman is about ppl who dont put their heart into anything they do.

--------------------New Beginning is about a guy who got a DUI in cali and since it was his third strike, he went to jail for a couple years. In the end, he just wanted to start his life over.

----When All Is Said and Done is about the band wondering if they were gonna make it as a band.

--------------------These Walls is about doing something u dont want to do in life and feeling trapped. (Ex: You work a boring office job when really u want to be a musician, etc)

I'll throw out some of the older non-albums songs I liked:

Break Me Out- ( great song about a girl or something)

--Patience
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2r_cr3gU0t4

Avelyn
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4xqbWzVBwWs
(I think this one had potential)

----I will get what's mine
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rF5vhqpMivs
(the song is about going after your dreams)

------I'll Stay
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jUuZQiAA_y0

---Lie Awake
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNy83_uGeKE

---Lost in a Portrait
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Y8ORQ9f1LE

-------Perfect Dream
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jqilqwaQQok

-----Promise (I think it's about marriage, I think)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WpbbAixee_w

----Dissemble (Dissemble means "to lie", so basically it's about fake people and liars)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1jz3ViLa4Ss

Then of course, there's their old EP, Algamation. I cant say I really care for it. It had a lot more rapping and screaming and stuff. It's a lot heavier and grundge-y.

I like Trapt, but mainly just their older stuff like cheese was saying. Stand Up was one of my favorite rock songs for a while. I have their Someone In Control album and a live album. They're another band I could put down in that thread for liking their older stuff better.

Great band for when I'm in a bad place to listen to, even better live. I cannot wait for DNA to finally land and them to come back and play Glasgow, just hope they can play more than 13 songs next time. Bloody first support band waited too long to get their ass on stage and impacted on the rest of the night. Ill be happy to see them again at Audio in Glasgow again.

I still say this is a band that would really take off if they could get a first support on a larger bands tour playing arenas or larger venues, they could finally get the exposure that they deserve and finally crack into the market that is waiting there for them!!!

I wasn't really a fan of their last album but their self-titled album, Someone in Control, Only Through Pain & No Apologies were ones I enjoyed for the most part. I'm hoping that this upcoming album is better than what I expect it to be.

The two new singles sound better than most of the stuff off their last album (Reborn).

I really liked too close, and eye of the storm tho.

If you've heard those 2 then you've probably heard Echo or Still Frame before.

Probably.

But....maybe not.

-----------Repeat Offender is about making the same mistakes over and over.

-----Stay Alive is about how the band could survive even after Warner sabatoged the success of their second album.

-----Bleed Like Me is about finding that other person in life who is just as messed up/lost as you are.

-----Stories is a pretty song, about a girl.

I really dug the Trapt and Someone in Control albums when I was younger. The next 3 albums have some catchy stuff here and there but they just doesn't have the same impact for me and are forgettable IMO. I just went back and listened to their first album Amalgamation because I'd never heard of it. It's amazing how much it doesn't sound like them at all.

I'll check out DNA when it comes out, I'm a little confused as to why they keep pushing Human (Like the Rest of Us) as their new single on their FB page, they played that last year when I saw them in concert.

Yeah. Their first 2 albums I believe are their best work.

The other ones that I thought were really good were most of the bsides that i linked.

3rd and 4th albums had some great songs here and there.

I pretty much like them all to some extent. I love Reborn and No Apologies the best tho, especially when driving.

Now DNA has landed, its a strong effort and will be in rotation, but too many albums are landing for me at the moment and I fear it may be washed away in the noise, but I hope it will be a slow burner and will make the test of time when I can afford to give it a full attention span.
