Meh, I didn't really care for it. There were no songs that stood out to me and I really wanted to skip some of them halfway through.

The songwriting just isn't strong enough to pull off their (his) sound. It's outdated and only words when it's done really, really well.

I was pretty excited for this album but I have to say I agree. I like Victorious (the song) a lot, but other than that I wasn't really hooked on any of it. The debut had better written songs like Mind's Eye and Woman, which really hooked me into their shtick. Like you said, though, it doesn't work well unless the songwriting stays top-notch.

I really like Victorious (the song), too. I'll have to check out the rest and see if I agree with you guys about it not being that great.

I have a question if there are any Paul Gilbert fans here. No one else seems to know. When the heck is his new album, "I Can Destroy," being released in the US (or Europe for that matter)? The full album is on YouTube but I'd obviously love to own an actual copy (either physical or iTunes), and I'd rather not spend extra for a Japan version. It's my favorite album of 2016 so far and I highly recommend giving it a listen. Lots of great songs ranging from blues to lighthearted rock n' roll. No filler. Freddie Nelson, who sang on Paul's "United States" album, was also involved with this one. So, if anyone knows the answer, I'll mail you a chocolate chip cookie or something :lol

I don't know about anybody else but I preordered a copy of Zakk Wylde's new Book of Shadows II. I was a huge fan of the first album because I really like the way that he blends acoustic and electric. The second album in my opinion is amazing. It feels like it's good music just to chill to. I much prefer his book of shadows style over the heavier stuff that he's done. I was lucky because I was able to snag a signed copy which was limited to 1,000 copies. I've been wearing the album out ever since I got it this morning

Horses Blew Fire released an EP today and it's really good. Really proud to be good friends with these guys.

If you like progressive rock/metal definitely give it a listen. I pretty sure there are some people on here that would like it a lot if they gave it a shot. It's got a bit of a Periphery/Tesseract vibe, but overal it's less Djenty.

It's on Spotify and you can buy it online on Amazon, Itunes and Bandcamp. All information is in the video.

Dooo it.

Albums that I've really enjoyed:
Gojira - Magma
Megadeth - Dystopia
Steven Wilson - 41/2

Albums that I've listened to but I'm not particularly crazy about:
Anthrax - For All Kings
Tremonti - Dust
Black Stone Cherry - Dust

Albums that I'm really looking forward to:
Testament - Brotherhood of the Snake
The Pineapple Thief - Your Wilderness
New Alter Bridge

It's shaping up to be a good year for metal. I listen to a wide variety of music, but it's only when I try to do these lists that I listen that in terms of quantity, I don't actually listen to much.

Tremonti - Dust
Lacuna Coil - Delrium
Lacey Sturm - Life Screams
Architects - All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us

Literally the only 4 new albums I've heard this year.

The new Michael Kiwanuka album is really, really good.

Check out the opener of the new album on Spotify OR even better, check out this live version:

Islander has a new album out tonight called Power Under Control. I can't recommend it enough, just sounds so refreshing compared to most music being put out now. It's hard to categorize it into a genre, but think a mix of hardcore, punk rock, and reggae. Kinda. You honestly have to listen all the way through to get te complete experience. 10/10 album for sure, though not sure how it'll stand against Dust. We'll see after a few more listens.

Some highlights are Darkness, Devil Red, Bad Guy, and Beelzebub.
