In my defense, I just saw it as "continuing the discussion".

Re: FOO FIGHTERS!
I only gave it one listen and was entertained during the first few songs, but got bored with it towards the end. I really liked the closer though.
I probably need to give it a few more listens, because I liked the overal sound of it.

Hm exactly my reaction after the first listen. Damn seems like they disappointed this time.
Re: FOO FIGHTERS!
Pretty much the same opinion from me. It starts off great, gets kinda boring towards the middle (although I like Arrows), and the last song is good. Has a lot of just average material in the middle unfortunately.
I miss when they wrote more songs with catchy hooks in the choruses to be honest.

Re: FOO FIGHTERS!
Hmmm, how do I want to state this. I think, for me, anyway, this is not my least favorite album from them (One by One and Echos, Silence, Patience & Grace is the clear least favorite to me) nor this is my favorite (which is There is Nothing Left to Lose and Wasting Light). The songs aren't really bad. There are some pretty good songs like Run, Arrows, and I do like La Dee Da.
I think they are stuck with the typical formula where the lead singles are most likely the best song of the album (although I did mention that I did not like The Sky is a Neighborhood, but Run was really great) and the rest of the stuff are just ok stuff. Wasting Light really did break that mold where Foo Fighters actually deliver a tremendous front to back album and I don't think Concrete and Gold did that here. Maybe on repeat listens, it could be a much better enjoyable listen.

I super enjoyed Silence, Eco-Systems, Patents and Grass. I still count it as my fav from them. It was excellently recorded and they really branched out and tried different moods, which made for a less monotonous album that they usually put out. Wasting Light was awesome but a tad over-long for the material.
Not tried this one but also not been super impressed with the singles so far. It's all a bit 'classic' modern Foos with a shinier production coat.

I'm not sure what album you guys were listening to, but it apparently isn't the same one that's been on repeat in my car for the last 2 months. Fucking masterpiece. I love it.
Their episode of Landmarks was on PBS this past weekend, and it's available to watch online for, i believe, just a couple of weeks: http://www.pbs.org/wnet/gperf/foo-fight ... ullepisode

Saw these guys play one of the best shows I’ve ever been to tonight. 3 hour set. Stellar.

Re: FOO FIGHTERS!
Has anyone here listened to Dave Grohl's Play which is this 23 minute instrumental where he played all the instruments in the song? For a while there, I thought he lost his madman of music card since I felt like those crazy characteristics that Dave possesses were not as prevalent in Concrete and Gold, but I enjoyed this instrumental a lot on first listen.

Re: FOO FIGHTERS!
I've been saying for years that Foo Fighters would be an amazing choice for the Super Bowl halftime show. This story has been making the rounds on the music news/blogs today, some rumblings about whether they ever will, confirming that it's at least been talked about by both sides. One one hand, HELL YES, let's make this happen! On the other, I think the "mainstream" establishment kind of sees the Foos as the cliche "rock and roll band" that they'd call on when they need one, and not really know/appreciate who they are or what they've done for the last 20+ years. Still... let's make this happen already.

Surreal. His drumming in Foo Fighters has been such an influence on me as a musician. I always loved his energy and personality both on and off stage.

Re: RIP to one of the greats
This one stings a little more than others. Never got to see him play live and regret not taking the chances I had now. Feel so bad for his family and band members, especially Dave. I wonder what this means for the future of the Foos.
