One Drew Remains wrote:That was a cool little video. It's kinda cool how they and Alice In Chains both have spaced themed videos off of their last records. I wish AB would throw out an abstract video like that for whatever the next single is.

Rolling Stone posted a video of Ben playing Collide off his solo album (mentioned upthread in July)

Didn't find a CD option, just vinyl or iTunes so I went digital. Reminds me a lot of Mark Lanegan, good stuff.

Has anyone seen the video of Chris singing Pearl Jam's Footsteps? One of the greatest singers covering one of the greatest bands. I'm surprised my head didn't explode from the awesomeness.

Yeah, love it. I really hope Cornell's solo record is in the vein of this. Oh, and I hope he busts out Time Of Trouble live one of these days!

Soundtrack/tribute song is up
Chris Cornell, solo artist and frontman of Soundgarden, contributed a new song called "Misery Chain" with Civil Wars vocalist Joy Williams. In a press release, Cornell talked about the inspiration for the track.

“I was moved by this film and the story in a way that transcends any film experience I have ever had," he said. "I was inspired to write a hundred different songs, but finally landed on one based on what I believe is an extremely important message I took from this man's journey. Compassion, basic human rights and love must be our priorities above race, religion or commerce. Every generation needs a reminder of that simple idea.”

Matt Cameron is taking a break from Soundgarden! He's irreplaceable so I'll be interesting to see how it all works out. He's definitely more replaceable in Pearl Jam, but at least this means we'll get more Pearl Jam shows. Might also mean we get a Pearl Jam/Soundgarden tour? I'd be gutted if I went to see SG and Matt wasn't there.

Here's the little note posted earlier: http://soundgardenworld.com/a-note-from-matt-cameron/

A Note From Matt Cameron
Hello Knights of the Soundtable faithful,

I will be taking 2014 off from Soundgarden touring due to prior commitments promoting “Lightning Bolt” with my brothers in Pearl Jam and the desire to have more time at home with my family. I am trying to balance the many twists and turns of my awesome music career. This is temporary. I am still an active member of Soundgarden. Chris, Ben, Kim and I are in the process of finding the perfect substitute for the upcoming Soundgarden dates in 2014.

Thank you all for listening and the Years of Support!

Loudest of Love.
Matt Cameron
Tour dates for 2014 so far are Lollapalooza in South America and several shows in Germany with Black Sabbath.

I can't imagine seeing SG without Matt. Seeing him play drums made me really appreciate drummers, and the crazy time signatures are such a part of SG's music.

Yeah it's going to be really difficult to find a suitable replacement. Whoever gets the gig is going has MASSIVE shoes to fill.

Saw Chris on the current Songbook tour. He played my favorites and some fun or interesting covers. He decided to learn U2's One on the guitar but when he searched for the lyrics decided to go with Metallica's One lyrics instead because why not? Sang Hunger Strike with Bhi Bhiman the opening singer. And then Hotel California and wherever he wasn't sure of lyrics left it to Bhi or the audence. Chris is so comfortable on stage taking requests and making twists on sings and bantering with the audience. He's a delight on top if his amazing voice which was the best or equal to the best I've heard him.

I haven't seen either Chris Cornell or Soundgarden live, but right now, with Matt Cameron out of Soundgarden, I'd much rather go see Chris Cornell, his shows sound incredible. In fact, Chris Cornell is probably one of the few singers I could go see play guitar for a couple of hours! Eddie Vedder is one of my favourite singers, but I think his solo show would bore me to tears.

Superunknown, one of the best albums ever, is being re-released. http://soundgardenworld.com/superunknown20/

I would do bad things for that vinyl version! Really pleased they've put a lot of effort into this re-release, unlike some bands and their releases *cough*ABIII*cough*

You just wait until 2030!

That does look awesome though, I want all those extras but I bet it costs many monies.
For all of the hope that it brings...

yes! People have whined about Kim taking forever getting this organized, but yaaaaaaay. I bet the 2CD set won't be too expensive.
This year, the band celebrates the 20th anniversary of this groundbreaking album with a special reissue in two deluxe versions outlined below and available on June 3, 2014 via A&M Records/UME. The Deluxe Edition is a 2-CD package featuring the remastered album along with disc two consisting of demos, rehearsals, B-sides and more. The Super Deluxe Edition is a 5-CD package featuring the remastered album, additional demos, rehearsals and B-sides and the fifth disc is the album mixed in Blu-ray ™ Audio 5.1 Surround Sound. The Super Deluxe Edition is incredibly packaged in a hardbound book with a lenticular cover, liner notes by David Fricke and newly reimagined album artwork designed by Josh Graham. It also features never before seen band photography by Kevin Westerberg. A 2-LP gatefold of the original 16 vinyl tracks remastered on 200-gram vinyl in a gatefold jacket will also be made available. In addition, the Superunknown singles and associated b-sides with newly interpreted artwork sleeves by Josh Graham will be reissued on Record Store Day, April 19th, as a set of five limited edition 10″ vinyl records.
