Dreamy singer/songwriters

Post by Macca »

This prolly overlaps with the folk thread. But I'm reserving this for sad/depressing/pretty stuff. I'm hoping CTM gets involved and I can find some good tunes.

Here's a recent favorite that she has said in interviews was indeed about depression. I love the expression "where did I leave that fire?"

This guy's pretty good. He won "The Best Singer-Songwriter Of Holland" (TV-show) last year, and just released his debut album. It's available on Spotify if you're interested.

I was coming here to post about Noah Gundersen, but apparently Macca already mentioned him in the first post. I've been obsessing about him the last few days. He's so incredibly good. Still so young too.. He just released a new album in 2014 and it's a beauty!

Yea, found out about him via Sons of Anarchy ;)

Sun Kil Moon just released a really good album as well.

I like Sun Kil Moon a lot but I haven't been able to get into this latest release. My favorites from them tend to come from Ghosts of the Great Highway and April. My absolute favorite is this long piece from Ghosts:

Another suggestion might be this guy that released an album last year, King Krule. He has an especially deep voice but the style can be very bluesey and dreamy:

Thanks! I just found out about Sun Kil Moon. His new album is the only one I've heard so far. Haven't found time to listen to the others yet (there's so much good music coming out!) but that song sounded great!
