Coldplay--- Surprising.

Post by Them Bones »

Was never a fan of this band until this song and video. Liked a song or two here or their, but this is amazing imo.

I liked that a lot. Cool video too.

Before people start bashing, I like Coldplay a lot. Shiver and Fix you are such amazing tracks.

Appreciated their stuff for years.. Talk and Paradise are my favourites of theirs.. Their live stuff is literally unbelievable. They go down as one of the great stadium bands with U2 and The Rolling Stones for sure

Parachutes is one of the best produced albums of all time. You put that CD on (not an MP3) a decent stereo system and turn it up and it sounds like the band is right there in the room with you.

I think their first two albums were both in at least the top 20 of the 2000s. Anything after that I'm not so into but they still put out a good song here and there.

They played a new song live:

Sounds really good to me. There's supposed to be a new album pretty soon.

Coldplay kicks ass! I always thought Weezer was a way better example of wuss rock than Coldplay to be honest. Coldplay's hate even reminds me much of Creed's. More bandwagon brigade as opposed to legitimate criticism. Much like Creed though most of their discography has some real gems.

I love Parachutes and Viva La Vida as entire albums, but each album has at least 2 or 3 songs I enjoy. Their new(ish) song really breaks me. Check it out!

Back in the day, I loved Coldplay. Their first two albums were great, open production, good songs, lovely tasteful piano and guitar playing, inventive arrangements and composition. X&Y lost me somewhat as it felt like album 1 & 2 but a bit watered down. Viva la Vida was interesting enough but then they just dove off of the radio single deep end and stopped being so much of a band. I now have no interest in them but those first two albums are still legit great.

I think they've written their best songs in the later part of their careers. Unpopular opinion, but I truly admire their ability to morph their sound to whatever's on the radio, and still write great songs from the heart. Their latest album had some fantastic songs.

They are definitely more interesting than people give them credit for. Personally, I think the only pop albums (as in top 40) they have are Mylo Xyloto and A Head full of Dreams. Parachutes, Rush of Blood, X&Y, Viva La Vida and Everyday Life have natural commercial appeal but they don't feel like albums tailor made for the radio to me. Except for A Sky full of Stars, I think Ghost Stories is pretty authentic Coldplay too.

New song. Yech :( I thought their last album was a step in the right direction, but I guess they're gonna go back and forth between their alternative and pop material from now on

Liked the singles from the previous album better, and they've written better 'pop' songs, but I like the vibe. Fun song.

This is brilliant. I can't believe that stupid Higher Power song is on the same album as this. Makes me wonder what its gonna be like in full.

That's cool that you're able to get into Higher Power. Coldplay's pop stuff kills me so I'm probably just gonna like half of this record

So Timotheus, Music of the Spheres is officially out. What do you think?

I liked it WAY more than I expected! Even the poppy songs. I still hate Higher Power but I dig the BTS and Selena Gomez collabs. People of the Pride is the best song on the album. It reminded me of Lifehouse meets Muse. Coloratura and Infinity Sign were also super cool. :)

So with Music of the Spheres out I would rank Coldplay's discography from best to worst as

Parachutes
Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends
Music of the Spheres
Ghost Stories
X&Y
A Rush of Blood to the Head
Everyday Life
A Head full of Dreams
Mylo Xyloto

Wow that's pretty high! Have not found time yet to listen to it. Will probably listen to it tomorrow, depending how much concentration my work will demand of me.

Was not really impressed with the BTS collab, though it was undeniably catchy. Looking forward to hearing the rest of the album!
