Europe could be something, he stated in that article.
“There’s a lot of talk about it. We flirt with progressive musical ideas, so we’re perhaps a little more cerebral than the mainstream, which goes down well in Europe, apparently. But I can’t just call my German roommate from college and set it all up; it takes some doing.”
I think they can get over well in Europe. If they can get a good supporting slot with a band like AB, it would do wonders for their European viability. Something like that helped Halestorm a good amount and they are going to play the largest venues that they have played as a headlining act in the UK, next year. Big Wreck has that kind of sound that would work in a European market.

It would be a dream come true to see Big Wreck play in the UK. Some smaller theater venue would be fucking brilliant.

The last time I saw Big Wreck was towards the end of their Albatross tour in Nov 2012 at a hockey arena's multipurpose centre. They were co-headlining with Theory of a Deadman and opened the show with a scarce hour set. Despite the relatively comatose crowd they put on an amazing show with some of the best guitar moments I've ever seen live. The lineup was still relatively new at this point so it seemed like they were just starting to gel.

Fast forward two years the band is headlining a show at The Marquee Ballroom, Halifax's premier live venue. My buddy and I belined it to the stage and ended up about 5 feet from the rail centre stage. The boys come out to a roaring crowd and warm us up with searing version of "I Digress" followed by crowd favorite "That Song". What's clear at this point is that I'm finally in an energetic crowd giving this band the response that they deserve. An awesome way to start. What's also very clear is that these guys have now truly gelled and you can see that they genuinely love playing music together. That's it right there. The show was super high energy and the band was all smiles and goofing off a bit along the way. Despite a bit of good humour they were musically a well oiled machine and probably one of the tightest bands I've heard.

Some highlights were the underrated "Look What I Found" with a nice extended bridge in the middle, the live odyssey of "Biko/Blown Wide Open/Come Again" and even some songs I saw live two years ago like "Albatross", "Wolves" and "Ladylike" only seemed to gain potency seeing them again. Highlight of the night? That's got to go to "Ghosts". Dave lead into the song with a stellar bass solo with a little bit of "Another One Bites The Dust" ear candy. The band kicks into a lively version of track with Ian's blistering guitar solo. Seriously that Suhr through Suhr combo is deadly. Unbelievable tone. What put it over the top followed Ian's closing solo where him and Dave have a back and forth guitar/bass solo section. I'll honestly say it's probably the best show of musicianship I've seen. Both of those guys are unbelievable (Btw there were quite a few cameras about so Youtube that shit. Serious virtuoso stuff).

So as you can clearly tell I'm riding high from the show. And tonight I'd say it was one of my favorite live shows that I've ever seen if not my favorite. Goddamn.

Wish I never had to leave their concert back in Oct. It was looking to be so good but the girlfriend was sick. :( I Digress is so awesome live. Glad you got to rock out for NYE. I saw them for the last one in Barrie where I'm from. It was pretty epic.
