Listened to their newest album.

Didnt care for the 30 second songs or so.

2184 was some instrumental thing. No robo voice.

The 3 singles were decent. Daylight had a slower chorus that let the vocals shine.

The album needs a couple listens before you can decide what you like.

Dysfunctional You was very catchy.

Dead Don't Die reminded my of the song Devil a little bit.

No Sleep Tonight had drums everywhere.

America Burning had a banjo in it.

What You Wanted had some strings and stuff.

A Symptom of Being Human could have been better lyrically. But other than thats, its a really good song. And nice string arragement too.

The album seems like a definite improvement over the last couple. Having so many interludes as standalone tracks bogs down the track listing a bit for me when looking through them, but I guess they didn’t want to tack those bits onto other songs and have to do radio edits for all their singles.

I thought the album is all right. I put it on par with Amaryllis.

I liked it! Hope is my favorite song but Planet Zero, No Sleep Tonight, Dysfunctional You, Dead Don't Die, America Burning and Clueless and Dramatic are all really good too.

Shinedown is a solid band. They've never been an absolute favorite but I like most of thier discography. They're like a good friend who never seems to become a best friend. I hope they come through my city soon.

This was my favorite SD albums from a musical standpoint in a long time. A Symptom of Being Human and Hope are absolute gems, and I love the overall heavier tones on this one.

On the other hand (in my opinion...) What You Wanted is the worst song they've ever done, and maybe the worst song any band has ever done. WTF were they thinking capping the album with that one?

I get the theme that the band was going for with the songs and lyrics and interludes, but the stroke they paint is way too freaking broad and totally ignores context and circumstances. Brent just gets too preachy for me sometimes and he misses the original point.

Yeah I usually really enjoy their album closers and had a big “what the crap is this” moment with that song too lol

I'm looking at their album closers and surprisingly, I enjoyed most of their album closers. 45, Some Day, Call Me, Through the Ghost, Misfits, and Brilliant served their purpose. What You Wanted, well, it did feel like a goodbye to the album sort of song, but yeah.... Not the greatest closer. Most of the album is ok stuff though.
