The Official HALESTORM Thread
Re: The Official HALESTORM Thread
Like most I find the lyrics annoying but the most surprising thing was the bad production.. especially compared to their other albums. The drums in particular sound awful. Also, there's no catchy melody or hook like there was with Love Bites.
Re: The Official HALESTORM Thread
The production sounds a bit rough to me as well. I've heard the song on Octane a couple times, and it's kind of hard to hear the vocals in my car.

If you were hoping for lyrical growth/changes then I guess this article confirms we're getting the same raunchy crap & probably even worse.

New single released today called Mayhem. I think they've been playing this one live, but I haven't heard it yet.

Re: The Official HALESTORM Thread
It's on Youtube.. The production is awful again, but it's definitely a better song than Apocalyptic luckily! Cringe-worthy lyrics again, but great energy and melodies.

I checked out the preview on iTunes, and yeah, the production sucks. But you're right that the song itself is a lot better than Apocalyptic. I'll have to check out the full thing.

yup. these songs are absolutely awful. so disappointed
Re: The Official HALESTORM Thread
I'm hearing some 90s influence in this track. The opening guitar riff kind of has a Soundgarden feel to it, and the vocal effects remind me of something you'd hear on a Manson/NIN track. I actually dig this song pretty well.

Hadn't heard the song yet, but I found this tweet. I don't know if he likes it because he's good friends with them or he actually likes the song, but he gives them props.

It's a good song in my opinion. Apocalyptic was meh, but this one rocks.

Not the first time she's replied to me

She replied to me a few times as well. One where I gave my opinion of a Kelly Clarkson song (that was written by Sixx:A.M.'s James Michael, another good friend of Halestorm) and one where I asked if she like it if there was ever a possibility that Halestorm and AB tour together in the states.

The lyrics are poo and it sounds like 2 different songs mushed into one but I kind of like it.

Yeah, it's slightly better than Apocalyptic. That said, there's just something missing for me in order for me to say that this is a winner. I don't know what, but something is missing. They also needed a better ending to the song. It's very energetic though.

Re: The Official HALESTORM Thread
They recorded these songs "live," kind of similar to how Slash and the guys did Apocalyptic Love. I think that causes the production to sound a little, I don't know how to describe it, echo-y at times? Like you can tell they're in an open room playing together. It makes for a nice atmosphere, but I think you lose some detail of the individual instruments that way.
Apparently the vocals on Mayhem didn't have any special effects placed over them besides a little echo. The almost distorted sound you tend to hear at times was apparently caused by Lzzy singing so loud that it distorted the mic lol.

Re: The Official HALESTORM Thread
It makes for an outstanding quality live track and a lousy album track. Apocalyptic makes me want to ask any woman on this board if she's ever said "go on and hit it" after I cringe.

Yo, Summer. Got a question for you.Fish Tacos wrote:Apocalyptic makes me want to ask any woman on this board if she's ever said "go on and hit it" after I cringe.
But seriously I understand the lyrics are pretty bad, but I don't view it as much different compared to a lot of 80s rock that got really popular.
