Haha.. I was considering making an Alice In Chains threads just now, looks I don't have to. I love Alice In Chains, they must be the only band where I like most, if not all of their songs. I love how they're almost metal, but so difficult to pidgeon hole into a genre, their songs range from metal to acoustic. I think my favourite AIC songs have to be Them Bones, God Am, Would?, Dirt, We Die Young, Acid Bubble, Nutshell. I'm gonna stop there, or else I'll list their entire catalogue.

I think if I was to rank their albums, it would look like this.. With the top being my most favourite.

Dirt
Alice In Chains
Jar of Flies
Sap
Black Gives Way To Blue
Facelift
Unplugged

That's something I've spent a long time considering, I really like Facelift, but I find the whole funk-rock thing they had going on that album a bit strange sometimes.

Yeah I myself find it hard to choose the best songs.. AIC is a band where most of their songs are great imo.. hard to find band songs in their catalogue.... even the new album with DuVall is great...

Layne was definitely one of the most talented vocalists ever...

I don't like Alice In Chains (the album). Don't know why.

Have to bump this topic up. Alice in Chains is easily my favorite band of all time. Jar of Flies is my favorite album by them and probably my favorite album of all time. Some of my favorite AIC songs:

Nutshell
Would?
Rotten Apple
Love, Hate, Love
Don't Follow
Right Turn
Acid Bubble
Sludge Factory
Last of my Kind
Bleed the Freak
Got Me Wrong
Shame in You
Angry Chair
We Die Young
I Stay Away
etc.

Yeah Alice in Chains is great! The only album I've got is Jar of Flies, but I've got a handful of other songs as well. Jar of Flies is INCREDIBLE I can't believe they wrote it in like a week! Amazing.

BGWTB is my third or fourth favorite AIC album. I was very skeptical of Duvall being the new singer, but when I first heard "Last of my Kind" I knew he was the right guy. His vocals it that song are amazing. I would like to hear more lead vocals from Duvall on their next album. My top 3 songs on BGWTB are:

Acid Bubble
Last of my Kind
Black Gives Way To Blue

Black Gives Way to Blue is a good album, definately sounds like a more modern Alice In Chains, I can't really understand why anyone would dislike it if they claim to be an Alice In Chains fan, I think people just have pre-conceptions of what they should sound like based on Layne's voice. I find it amazing how people are so attached to Layne, people need to get over the fact he died, if the band members can, then why can't the fans who have never met him?

I do feel for Duvall, he's gotta have big balls to be in the position he's in, every single youtube video he's singing in has a Duvall v Layne argument, yet it seems like he doesn't care in the slightest, which I've got big respect for. I'm just glad Alice In Chains are still making music, and I'm not sure who would be a better replacement for Layne than Duvall.

I haven't heard much of their new stuff, but it seems to me that AIC will always be know for the stuff that they did with Layne. Anything else will still be Alice In Chains, but it won't have the legacy that their older material does.

Yeah, of course it's not identical to the old stuff with Layne, but I doubt Layne would have stayed in a rut either given the diversity of what he did. Black Gives Way to Blue reminded me how strong Jerry Cantrell is at the heart of AiC.

Awesome song. Their new album and Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats "Mind Control" are my top 2 most anticipated albums of 2013.

Not the best AIC song. Good, but I hope Jerry saved the best for later in the album. Video is alright, open to interpretation, I would have loved a performance video.

Anybody heard the new songs? Stone is awesome, and there was a bad quality version of Phantom Limb available, but I've only heard it once, it sounded decent. It's definately going to be a better album than Black Gives Way to Blue.
