THE OFFICIAL JOHN MAYER THREAD

John Clayton Mayer (/ˈmeɪ.ər/ may-ər;[1] born October 16, 1977) is an American rock musician, singer-songwriter, recording artist, and music producer.[2] Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, and raised in Fairfield, he attended Berklee College of Music in Boston. He moved to Atlanta in 1997, where he refined his skills and gained a following, and he now lives in Montana.[3] His first two studio albums, Room for Squares and Heavier Things, did well commercially, achieving multi-platinum status.[4] In 2003, he won a Grammy Award for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance for "Your Body Is a Wonderland."[5]
Mayer began his career performing mainly acoustic rock, but gradually began a transition towards the blues genre in 2005 by collaborating with renowned blues artists such as B. B. King, Buddy Guy, and Eric Clapton, and by forming the John Mayer Trio. The blues influence can be heard throughout his 2005 live album Try! with the John Mayer Trio and his third studio album Continuum, released in September 2006. At the 49th Annual Grammy Awards in 2007, Mayer won Best Pop Vocal Album for Continuum and Best Male Pop Vocal Performance for "Waiting on the World to Change". He released his fourth studio album, Battle Studies, in November 2009. His fifth album, Born and Raised, which saw another musical style shift, was released in May 2012. He has sold over ten million albums in the U.S. and over 20 million albums worldwide.
Mayer's career pursuits have extended to stand-up comedy, graphic design, television hosting, and writing; he has written pieces for magazines, most notably for Esquire. He is also involved in philanthropic activities through charity work and various environmental causes.

NEW ALBUM
Legendary american musician John Mayer reveals he's coming back to the studio to write his next studio album, Rolling Stone reports.

"John is recording his 6th studio album," says the Mayer's official Facebook page announcement. "Check back every Tuesday for more Studio Session videos to see what's going on behind the scenes."

The first video shows Mayer toying with an amp, looking over his collection of pedals and picking out a spacey, washed-out lick. Check it out below.
"I'm up to four or five songs I think are really cool," adds Mayer himself. "There's a song called 'Badge and Gun' that's pure country. I'd like to do a country EP at some point, a smallish record."

He continued: "I like a lot of stuff I didn't think I was going to like 10 years ago. That excites me."

Mayer's 2013 comeback kicked off in January when he performed live for the first time in two years after undergoing two rounds of surgery to repair a granuloma in his throat. Mayer is now set for a sprawling summer tour that kicks off July 6th in Milwaukee.

The latest Mayer's studio album, "Born and Raised," was released on May 22, 2012.

So my wife was a big John Mayer fan when I met her. Which meant yeah I tried to get into it. So I listened some. He's a good guitarist, a couple songs I liked. Back To You was ok. Man on the Side was my favorite though.

But now, I think and even my wife thinks that John Mayer is just a big douche bag with all the gossip/relationship bullshit he is been in the news for over the last several years.

Anyways here is what I think is his best moment:

I honestly couldn't care less about all the gossip shit. He's a phenomenal artist, guitarist and songwriter, and I highly respect him because of that.

Sure, he might be a bit of a douche bag (though I think he's very misunderstood), but at least he's real. I've read somewhere that somebody thought he was "the most genuine douche bag there is", and that's exactly how I feel about him.
He's said some stupid stuff in those interviews a few years back, but who cares? It's not like he ever claimed to be this perfect guy. He'd even written a song about his 'Stupid Mouth' years before this happened. And honestly, I never really got the negative reactions to those comments, I thought people were highly overreacting..

I love that song btw :)

Couldn't care less about his obvious douchebaggery. The guy is an incredible artist. Born and Raised was one of my favorites of last year, and I'm very excited for Paradise Valley.

Yea, and it's all going so fast.. I heard about this album for the first time about 4 weeks ago.
In this short time we've had three studio updates, a single, artwork, name of the album + the news that the album will be out in August.. Exciting stuff :D

He even apologized for getting it to us a day too late. I don't think anybody noticed or even cared with the release of Paper Doll :lol

They're streaming a new song for 24 hours. It's the same one they did live acoustically in the studio. But it's soo good :bow

Some good songs on the new album. I'm definitely not blown away by any stretch though. Hopefully it's a grower.

It's definitely not as good as BORN AND RAISED, but I'm really enjoying it so far.

I like it better than Born & Raised all the way through. The only thing that this album misses is a song like 'Walt Grace's Submarine Test'.

My favourites so far are: Waiting On The Day, Dear Marie, I Will Be Found, On The Way Home
