He plays through 'Two Rock' amps I believe, but those are based on Dumble amps. He also uses Fender a lot, but I'm not sure if he uses those in this performance.

A lot of his tone is in his fingers though.

First John Mayer Trio performance in 5 years! It's a cover of Clapton's After Midnight.

John Mayer/Steve Jordan/Pino Palladino/Chick Corea/Wallace Roney

Here’s a full seven minute tune I loosely composed called “Little Sur,” recorded last February in New York City. I got together with some of my friends and favorite players for six amazing days of playing music with no rules, no plans, and no pressure. Oh, and no vocals. What came from it was a really inspired batch of recordings. Hours of music that I’ll need to sift through at some point should it ever become an album. (I hope it does.) If you’re wondering where I am in the mix, that’s me playing a Music Man long scale guitar… Pino and I are kind of both living in the bass space. As soon as Chick came in on the piano, I knew something really deep was taking place. This is the rough mix that was given to me at the end of the day, as it has lived on my laptop since.

I tried to find a minute, two minute clip to share with you, but these recordings just don’t work any other way than in their unabridged form. So here it is. Free music. Played freely, shared freely. Put it on and go for the ride… If you dig all seven minutes, then surely you deserve them.

There are times for marketing strategies, and there are times for just p l a y i n g. The original design for all musicians. Hope you enjoy hearing this as much as I did.

John
Sucks that he doesn't have a solo it it, but still a very enjoyable jam.

What's a good album to listen to for someone who hasn't heard a full one? I've heard Slow Dancing In A Burning Room and Gravity. I liked those.

Continuum is probably the best pick when it comes to studio albums.

Though the dvd "Where The Light Is" is pure perfection. It's got his acoustic side, trio (blues) side and his normal (mix of a lot of styles) stuff. The video of Gravity I shared with you on the last page was from that dvd. I got into JM mainly because of that dvd.

Continuum is fantastic, but Heavier Things is my favorite Mayer album. That record will always hold a special place with me

Heavier Things is great. The first four songs are all sooo good. When it comes to old school JM I still prefer Room For Squares though. That album inspired me so much when I had no clue what to do with my life.

I know it doesn't get a lot of love from most JM fans, but Battle Studies is flat out fantastic for me. (Granted, I'm a huge Mayer guy and like all the albums...)

Anyways, Battle Studies has the perfect mix of the "Contiuum-Mayer" and the "Paradise Valley-Mayer". Just a great conglomeration of all his influences in one album.

He's great at comedy.. Would love to see that movie!

He was part of Stevie Ray Vaughan's introduction in the RRHOF 2 nights ago. This vidceo shows exactly why John's one of my favourite modern guitarists. That solo in Texas Flood is just :cloud9 (starts around 7:30)

He's in the studio with Pino Palladino and Steve Jordan (the guys he did Try!, Continuum and Battle Studies with). So excited.

He's been teasing a John Mayer Trio return for a year now... Hope it's finally happening for real.

I don't think it's gonna be a Trio album. At least not in name. But yea, it's great to have them working together again.
