I never really got the fans that turned their back on LP when MTM came out.. It was less of a good album, but it still was rock.. Lots of pop in it too, but it still sounded like LP.

There are just more softer songs on it.. No more Sorrow and Given Up both sound like classic LP to me..

Just kidding ;)
That's usually how it starts....when Blackbird came out, I didn't like a few of the songs...but slowly came around to the rest of them. I've always been one that it's usually a while after a song initially comes out that I start liking it. Sometimes it takes years haha :lol

The ones I like from the rest of Living Things so far are Lost in the Echo, Lies Greed Misery, and I'll Be Gone.

I think it might be easier to see it that way now, considering the even more drastic change with A Thousand Suns and now this album (I think, I haven't actually got it but what I've heard sounds to be in a similar vein to A Thousand Suns). Coming after Hybrid Theory and Meteora I think it seemed like a considerable change. I still like that album, but it was a bit of a disappointment at first considering the first two were among my very favourite albums, and I was expecting something more similar and of a similar level of quality.

Yeah I don't see why you would "turn your back" on LP. I mean, sure the newer material sounds different to a degree, but to me it all still sounds like Linkin Park. I feel like they've been able to transcend genres and labels by creating the Linkin Park "sound" that allows them to do anything from folk to metal and have it sound like Linkin Park.

^ I agree but ATS was a big change in sound. In MTM the guitar was still in the front on most of the songs. But in ATS you really have to try to find the guitar in the mix. In this new album the guitar's a bit more audible, but it sounds like digital crap imo.

Hehe, this thread is for LP fans, not LP haters. But just to give you haters something to talk about, what about the newer Linkin Park do you not like? Specifically, so not like "I hate everything!!!"

I don't mind "rock" songs that aren't guitar-driven, but yeah you're totally right.

Yeah I was initially upset at the whole "radio-friendly" sound, but I got over it soon enough cuz the songs were still great, imo.

Well I wasn't saying they have folk song and metal songs. That'd truly suck. But they've been able to incorporate elements of both those genres into their music. And personally, I think they've done a good job of that.

Anyways, is anyone going to see them on the Honda Civic Tour with Incubus? And if so, what songs from the new record do you wanna hear them play?

^ Hahaha!!! Yeah really. Although I think someone already stated that LP is by no means a metal band.
